My dad bought the millermatic 140 a while back and that's what I'm trying to sell. I'm looking to get a bigger one to play with. I can tell it's a really nice quality welder but I want one that's bigger to mess with. I was actually looking at the 211 as well.

 

My new machine, should serve my purposes well.

Here's something to remember guys, now I used to work as a welder repair man so I am very familiar with these machines.

If you are looking for a 115v/230v unit 250amps or less, and you wanna save a little coin, buy a Hobart. The company that owns Miller Electric (Illinois Tool Works) also ownes and manufactures all Hobart units 250 amps and below. The machines are literally identical.

 

Messing around with the new Miller welders they bought us at work.

They're Miller Delta-Fab's.

 

This it some what true the Hobart machines have different internals then the Millers do. It's minimal but the miller welders do have better parts where it counts. Hobart welders are great and for the money your saving it's worth it for most people to buy the Hobart over a miller. For me going through up to 98lbs of wire or more a month per machine I need those internals to be solid or I'd be replacing parts too often.

 

Sub'd for light reading. Got an old Lincoln stick in the garage and need to dust off the skills.

 

New welder! Also picked up a spool gun for aluminum while I was at it.

First time I've used mixed gas rather than 100% CO2. Welds look a lot better!

 

I beg to differ, part numbers for many of the major components are identical. The millers do tend to have more options though.

What mixture are you running? 92/8?

 

75% Argon/25% CO2

 

One thing to watch out for is you're gonna need a little more heat to penetrate with the mixed gas. But yeah I was surprised how terrible my mig welds look on our school welder which uses 100% CO2.

 

100% CO2 gives better penetration with splatter. C25 gives a cleaner weld.
