300,000 Miles Today

I installed the Icon front coilovers and rear shocks at 230k, so about 85k miles ago. Still feels and handles like it did new. I'm a big fan of Icon.

 

That's awesome.

 

For your next set of tires, would you stick with the A/T 2s, go back to the M/S 2s, or go in a different direction altogether?

I'm running stock Dunlops now but am leaning heavily toward the M/S 2s when they're replaced. Thanks.

 

And I thought I had a lot of miles on my 06. I am at about 117K and bought it new with 32 miles on it back on July 10, 2006.

An update. No real repairs or other news since 300k.

Any problems whatsoever with your 6-speed transmission?

 

No not really. It started getting a bit notchy shifting from 1st to 2nd. Changing to Redline MT-90 gear oil solved that. No other issues.

 

I wish the Michelin M/S 2 tires had a more agressive tread, but there is really nothing else I dislike about them. Quiet and long lasting ( ~65-70k miles on my truck) and good resistance to flats.

MT-90 is great stuff. I used it in my 2004 Tacoma and use it in my 2013.

 

I decided 325k on the original clutch was enough. I had the clutch disc+TOB+pilot bearing+pressure plate all replaced and the flywheel resurfaced by a dealer.

The clutch was working fine, I just wanted to be proactive, as the original clutch had 325k on it and I did not know how much friction material remained.

Here are some pics of the disk. I was surprised to see it was a LUK clutch disk, rather than ASIN.

Dang, still lots of miles left in the clutch disc at least. Good to have a new throw-out bearing though, hopefully it stands up as well as the original. I guess we'll know when you hit 650,000 miles.

 

Thats awesome to get that kind of milage out of one clutch plate, you sir should be teaching all of us how to drive a manual trans. Over 300.000 on the truck shows that you know how to take care of the truck. I had a 1991 xtra cab , i put over 300.00 kilometers on it but the body and the frame eventually gave up, rough climate here on the East Coast, hard on vehicles

 

Holy crap thats impressive mileage for the year and the number of repairs!
And seeing your oil change intervals... Wow. I change mine every 4-5k miles running Mobil1. I'd be interested to see an analysis from Blackstone on my oil now at 147k miles on my 03.

 

Repair at 327k.

Replaced the tensioner pulley, two idler pulleys and the fan clutch at 327k. Had some noise starting, and now back to smooth and quiet.
