I think the HRC cam is more aggressive than the hotcams, or that's what I have read. We dropped the hole kit in at the same time so its hard to isolate what every component did. We ride exclusively in the dunes so I use every last HP in my bikes. The powerband is really high on the 450 so the extra RPM feel pretty good.

The HRC kit gave the bike alot of balls, completely different bike than it was stock. My 250 used to walk away from the 450, but that is no longer the case. Also I may have been racing alot of people that don't know how to use a clutch, but I sure seem to smoke alot of 450's on the drags, especially up hills. I feel like its pretty impressive because I am 6'2" and 230 pounds.

How do you like your head portjob? My 450 has a lot of hours on it now and I am thinking it might be time to freshen up the top end. I was thinking of having the top end ported. Maybe a new CDI box with more advance. Its never enough!

With the improvements i did it woke up the bike for sure. Had Dasa shop in Riverside do the improvements, They are freak in awesome customer service that is for sure. I think the bike is putting out 55 hp which was like 33% from before.

That's pretty close to the spec the HRC kit states it brings the bike to. Your port job probably really helps. I am just having a hard time justifying ripping the top end apart when it runs so well.

I recently redid the top end of my trailbike, an o'l xr400. Went with a stage 2 hotcam and a high compression weisco piston. I tried to track down a HRC cam for that as well but they are really hard to find now as they are out of production. The higher compression piston really helped the low end, and the hotcam really evened out the powerband.

My old skool 1985 Fourtrax 250. Bought it for $500, dropped at least that much into it to get it running and working. Now its unstoppable!!!

I know I'll take some shit from Zach for riding a Polaris, but I took her mudding for the first time! She did well, but I definitely gotta change the plow rope out for the full length one. Had to do a churn-n-burn to get out of a couple holes. (ruts cut by 38" Swampers on my old K5 Blazer)!

    Fun was to be had!!!:p

My 1977 yamaha. It kicks total and utter ASS. Not street legal but could be as it is an enduro. Just havent had the money or time. Its so fast for just being a 100cc. It easily goes 70. It runs incredibly amazing for how old it is and being a 2 stroke and all. It idles perfectly on its own, and starts up on two kicks after not being started for over 6 months.
BTW, the seat has been re-upholstered and I painted the front and back fenders black.

My honda trx 250. Nothing big and special but I love it. I got it new in 2006 and havent upgraded yet. I love it though its tough as nails and I have so much fun on it.
The only upgrade on it really is that I got a twist grip for it, which I love.
I want a 450 pretty badly but now that I dont live in the desert anymore I dont take it out enough to justify it yet. Plus I would probably just hurt myself more.

That red tether absolutely saved my life 5 years ago...Id honestly without a doubt be dead now, or a worthless vegetable.

Half of me, and my quad and my taco the first time I took my truck out when I got it :) This was the same day as above photo pre mud. I was much much much more covered in mud than the quad hhaha.

Story of the red tether? If you upgrade, I'd consider the 400ex over a 450r simply to avoid all the maintenance gremlins of owning a race ready 450.
