I'm really wanting to buy a '09 crewcab 4x4 tacoma.

I'm getting conflicting info from various dealers on the TRD stuff.

Can somebody, in plain English, list what comes with the TRD Sport, and what comes with the TRD OffRoad??

I'm so confused right now I can't think strait!

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
There are lots of packages that come with the TRD options. Perhaps that is where the confusion lies.

The most important differences are that the off-road has the locking differential while the Sport has the LSD (brake thing). The Sport has 17 inch wheels and the off-road has 16 inch wheels.

Not at all, the offroad has a electronic differential locker where the sports has some version of LSD. the sport has 17" rims while the offroad has 16" rims

Interesting write up. Wouldn't you really want the bigger rims on the off road?? You know, more clearance and all??

Bigger rims dont mean more ground clearance you put tires on the rims and they give you more ground clearance. :)

Not to add to the confusion, but both the Off Road and the Sport have LSD now.

Oil field truck with 250k miles...original powertain. Wheelers 881's/5-pack, Energy bushings throughout.

According to my Toyota Configurator, the TRD Sport option is CHEAPER than the Off-Road option.

Bigger WHEELS (Tire+Rim=Wheel)...but bigger rims mean you have less rubber sidewall (and there for less compliance and less space to air down)...so I want the smallest rim I can fit with the biggest rubbers on them...

true, but don't confuse the current "LSD" with the previous LSD. The current LSD is more of a traction control feature. Before 2009, you would get a mechanical LSD on the TRD Sport.

For 2009, when comparing the TRD Sport and the Offroad, the Sport is more of an appearance package. The hood scoop is not functional.

When you get any TRD package, you will get better bucket seats and an inverter in the bed as well as a few other options.
