Same deal, it's got a bolt that can be removed. In this case you just have to be careful not to ruin the arm trying to break it free. EVERYTHING can be disassembled :)

If you look closely at the pulley itself it was designed to come off. I'm willing to bet that the tensioner pulley has the same dimensions as either the upper or lower idler pulleys, and are more than likely interchangeable. As Pugga eluded to, they are engineers (5 year olds) and not rocket scientists.

Good to know, I was going to ask you if you replaced yours or not. I ordered everything, new idlers, new tensioner assembly and a belt. Everything, including shipping is about $200 but I got a 5% off coupon through Rock Auto so it ended up being just over $180 (5% off parts also lowered the shipping cost so it saved me even more :D)

If I'm posting really bitter comments about Toyota's servicability some weekend, you'll know that's the weekend I'm replacing them all. You've all been warned

Just using the picture. I wouldn't have bought the assembly either, just the pulley. :boink:

Indeed, that's the way it goes sometimes. That's also when you bust open a knuckle and bleed all over the truck. :censored:

I replaced the alt a few months after buying the truck . It was a pain in the butt to wiggle out . I haven't done the tensioner assembly YET .
Don't need to tell me about bitter comments . I won't buy another tacoma . Ill go back to a Chevy or ford .

I was thinking the same thing but wasn't going to say anything because I'm not wearing my flame suit today :anonymous:

Still actually considering a Jeep if their new diesel turns out alright and makes it's way into a Wrangler Unlimited

Doesn't really matter what you buy, there's always going to be some sort of bullshit to repair. I drove that 95 until the fall of 2011 and sold it for $3500. When something wore out I upgraded it, which is how the truck ended up getting lifted. The only real bullshit problem I had was the rack & pinion, when I bought one aftermarket and it was a POS out of the box. If my new Taco treats me as well as my old Taco I will never drive anything but Tacos for the rest of my life.
