Ya anytime I replace something I get better. Somethings are better OEM but others suck and should be changed to aftermarket

I'm not a big bowtie fan. My buddy has a Silverado that is just falling apart. When I was landscraping we had two different one-ton 3500's with fuel management issues, and they just didn't compare to the F-350 we traded in as far as power, ground clearance, and reliability. We worked the snot out of the Ford and it didn't flinch.

Your last statement says it all. Personal experiences will greatly influence people when buying a vehicle. Personally, my Chevy treated me much better than my Tacoma so I'd be more inclined to buy a Chevy vs. a Toyota. I am thankful for the high resale value of the Tacoma but am by no means loyal to Toyota. I really like my truck but I have spend an ass load of money finally getting the truck to the point where it drives and runs like it should have from the factory. Toyota has gotten lazy and is riding out their reputation for legendary longevity. The new trucks don't have the same character and aren't nearly as bulletproof as the older ones were. Don't misunderstand, I wouldn't call my truck a POS or a lemon, it's treated me well overall and I'm not itching to get rid of it by any means but, when the time comes, it won't be an automatic choice for a Toyota for me.

Yeah, maybe it's luck? My brother has had two Tundras now, a 2002 and a 2010, and has been as fortunate as me to have very few problems. And you have a point, I think the "emperor" has let QC slip here and there (hell, look at the frame rot issue, just to name one). I'll see how this Taco works out, and if push comes to shove maybe one day I'll be looking for an old Gen 1 that's been chilling out in a garage in AZ for the last 20 years :D

Luck always comes into the equation in some form. I had GM vehicles that went to nearly 200k with no major issues, so it swings both directions.

My issue with GM is that with me they did everything they could to get out of honoring their own warranty, both at the dealer and the corporate level..and then suggested to me it's normal to need $5000 of engine work on a 5 yr old vehicle.

Started the ecig last week..haven't smoked a regular one since Saturday. Day 2 with nothing but the Chantix now..and yes that's part of it, I'm very wheezy now..can't walk from one end of the house to the other without losing my breath.

I feel you on the front end, especially the R&P :(. I swear they just rebuild them all and it's a gamble what you get in the box. That's been a big issue for years. I had to do the LCA bushings, but that was after 150k and serious abuse. I went through crazy tie-rod ends, but only after I was lifted close to 6" in the front. Battery and brakes I would attribute to FW&T if you were closer to 60k. 5 wheel bearings  Jesus H, there's definitely another issue there. Same wheel?

Yeah, that's what Chevy did with the two 3500's. And we needed them to work so we could make money. All the wasted time and sour taste left in our mouths.
