Yuppers, took me awhile to clear out 15 years of shit from my lungs. You may have a relapse here and there (getting shit-house drunk), but stick with it.

The first dealer "didn't know" about the TSB. He was going to order the head when I showed it to him. 4 weeks later the guy handling it now says he doesn't think it's the head no matter what the TSB says so he won't fix it unless I pay him. The second dealer fixes it and gets me for $2000 for all the stuff it broke which he agrees is all related, but GM will refund me the $$. Right..

My dad had traded his GMC 2500 for a F-250. The ford was slower, worse on gas, and was rusting away only after 2 years. Only thing he liked about it was the stiffer ride.

I only ever had one issue I couldn't get GM to fix, which was the insane amount of window scratches I had. They wouldn't fix it because the car had over 36K on it, even thought it was a recognized issue.

Right on! That was the worst part, trying to go have some wobbly-pops without smoking butts. Or driving with my coffee...

No way I would buy anything but the turbo diesel. When you chip them you can actually get great mileage so long as you drive respectably.

I think it could be partly luck but mostly because Toyota dropped the ball with the 2nd Gen Tacoma. There are some serious design and QA/QC flaws with the current Tacoma that could have been easily avoided (suspension and drive-line being the case-in-point for me). Some of the stupid little electrical problems, I can accept is luck to a degree, the driveline vibrations and the sorry excuse for a suspension that this truck came with is inexcusable.

I'd live with that before I'll live with half an engine croaking at 78K..I rattled off to the GM rep all the stuff that Toyota did for Linda with her '96 Tacoma that rotted out and then asked the rep which he thinks is more "common". He didn't have an answer..haha

Battery died, 2 out of 4 of my door locks no longer work (been fixed once), HVAC blower motor has been fixed 3 times and now making noise again. I think that's it. I can somewhat accept that some of that is just bad luck.

nothing is stopping you from trading it in for an awesome, spectacular, super-duper, perfect, GM that you want anyways.... no use whining about it on a tacoma-enthusiast site... the driveline issue is easily fixed with a small amount of your time, and even if you leave it, the truck will still outlast any GM product to live...

Agreed, they are pretty quick too. But there is still the rust issue.

I took this pic of a brand new F-150 on the showroom floor. Already surface rust starting on the engine.

I guess its fortunate for me my Gen 1 was a champ and I got to skip Gen 2. Even the Gen 1 rear springs were crap. I snapped OEM and then a set of Donovans on the drive side. Agreed, you should never have drive-line issues or vibes. Dealership should have gone the extra mile to remedy that.

You said you bought it used right? My Cadillac was like that. I think the previous owner took it for a swim though.
