Battery..I always say those are a coin flip in this climate.

Door locks..yeah that's why I hate the damn things and avoid power if at all possible. My old Taurus had a broken one that also kept the door from locking even manually..WTF.

Blower..yeah that's another one I've heard of here. Pain in the skull..

Can't wait for this POS stock battery to die so I can get an Optima in there.

Power windows and locks is one of the biggest apprehensions I have on this newfangled pickup, as well as all of the nanny BS.

Traction control, ABS, the fact I have to go rewire the fog lights so I can turn them on when I want to...

you would have to rewire foglights to turn them on anytime with any car.... since by law they are not supposed to be on with the high beams...

I did that to my foglights, it was simple. I disabled ABS, and I don't have the other crap.

I was used to GM vehicles where you could turn them on with the parking lights. I thought they didn't work at first until I realized they only come on with the headlights on our trucks.

Laws, shmaws... :D But seriously, they could have put in a different relay to allow them to be turned on without the headlights on like a daytime running light only cooler, and then cut out only when the high beams were switched on.

I wired mine so I can turn them on as long as the ignition is on. Sometimes I use mine as DRLs.

I plan on doing the anytime fog mod, just haven't had a chance yet. Much less free time for truck fun when I'm chasing little man around the house.

I miss being able to turn my DRL on and off at will, and not having to do a mod to do it, however, whenever you change vehicle manufacturers there will always be gripes. There are definitely pro's and con's to any change, but taking the good with bad I'm enjoying my Taco.

Mine didn't come with DRL's. One of my last cars I had to rewire them just to turn them off along with the automatic headlights.

No DRL's on mine. My Chevy truck had them but you could turn them off as well...no foggies in that truck so can't comment.

Please... Remove your lips from the genitalia that is Toyota long enough to realize that there are going to be issues with any vehicle manufacturer. :D Some people have terrible luck with a particular make while some swear by them. Just to be clear, I'm not whining about my truck, I've fixed the issues as they've come up and moved on but if there is going to be an open discussion about Toyota longevity, I'm going to state my opinion. There are several threads on this site about issues that people have had with their Tacomas... you think just because it's a Toyota enthusiast site it's all rainbows and sunshine?

Nope, I bought it new in 2007.

I've fixed it a few times but they keep failing. The blower motor fix seems to last longer than the door lock fix.

I hated the fact that there was no off switch for DRLs (used dim high-beams) or auto headlights in my car. As long as the key was in the ignition, the headlights were on. I had to change a couple wire on the BCM and ground the photo sensor to disable it.

I could be mistaken, but on the blower motor issue..isn't there another part# that doesn't have the whine?

No, Toyota replaces the whole motor assembly but it will typically exhibit the same symptoms with time. The issue isn't the part, it's how it's all put together. There are set screws that keep the motor spinning freely, usually all it takes is an adjustment of these and the noise goes away.
