Yeah, I've had enough fun out there. South side of Lake Georgetown kinda reminded me of Emma Long's obstacle strewn landscape. Would be more fun on an all mountain ride with more travel than my XC bikes have. If I lived there or went there more often, I'd have a bike set up just for that area. More travel, different gearing and tires for sure. I can still ride, survive & have fun on my setup for a coupla rides tho.

You and me both haha but the fast line is rarely the safe one:p The morning of my race during practice some kid came up short and got bucked over the bars to his neck, seizures and EMTs were what I saw right before I had to drop in, pretty brutal

Geeze that must have been one hell of an endo, the sport is definitely dangerous thats why I never cut corners on safety gear, my head is worth a 500 dollar helmet if you ask me. I want to ride Northstar soo bad, maybe this summer.

Yeah man, I don't skimp on my protective gear at all! Got me a Kali Prana Carbon...DOT DH certified helmet along with POC 2.0's for all the limbs. I really need to invest in a Leatt brace soon.

I plan on hitting Northstar this summer, I'll let you know! Usually roll pretty deep out from SLO.

damn, i hope i never experience or even see a crash that bad....my worst fall probably was me going over the bars right before a rock garden...I was going so fast by the bottom of the rock garden that i cleared the rocks and landed on dirt hahaha, could have been a lot worse...

I bet there are some awesome trails that locals don't want to share with outsiders, thats been my experience with any good MTB area we travel too and San Luis has a few I'm not willing to share

You will always see me wearing my Leatt on anything remotely downhill! Lawn dart to neck = game over

Yeah I've definitely gotta get one before N* this summer.....even before that, the gf won't sign my permission slip until I get a medical plan lol. Been self employed for the last 3 years, and one lucky SOB on the bike trails. I'm not getting any younger so Leatt + medical is on my radar ASAP. Just mobbing MDO trails and not trying to take über sketchy lines in the meantime. Smh!

new to the scene. wanted to pick up a bike for some recreational use. more for riding around for exercise though lol. which brand is best? was thinking either giant, trek, cannondale, or specialized. i dont want to get a bike with the super skinny tires like you see in the ironman. i want one that has the fatter all terrain looking tire. also disc brakes and shocks. what kind of bike would you call that? sorry for the noob questions :(.
