Yeah I figured out the clunking was the gas sloshing around the tank the other day. I'd only hear it at night when I came home and everything was quiet. I used to think it was the rear springs settling after driving all day. It's probably cause of the length and position of the tank that this is noticeable the these trucks and not other vehicles.

As for the clutch, doesn't depressing the clutch for extended periods of time wear out the clutch springs faster?? I try not to stay on my clutch when waiting at a light. Also I came from a Trans Am 6spd, so to me, the clutch isn't stiff lol.

Only real issue I have with mine now is that only after a year my rear springs squeak like they came from a 20 year old Ford Ranger. I know there is a TSB for this, I just gotta get under there and get it done.

Noticed when I have fresh air vent set for the floor, some air still blows through the dash vents. anyone else experience this? I've just been putting up with it. Not a major deal. Any ideas? I would think that if I have the fan set for the floor, there shouldn't be any air coming from any of the other vents.

Is it just the outer vents? If so, that's normal on all Toyotas. The only way to defeat that is to turn on the recirculation button.

Thanks Jane, I kinda thought that it might be typical. I wouldn't dare ask the dealership about it--They'd probably tell me I needed to replace the drive shaft. LOL

You have a 3" lift and larger than stock tires. Your mileage is normal. Remember, most fullsize trucks get about 16-18mpg hwy and 13-15mpg mixed on teeny street tires. Put a 3" lift and 32s, and bye-bye gas mileage. That's the way it is.

    3) 4WD -AUTO
    4) Access Cab
    5) TRD Offroad
    6) Wind noise on the highway, and the fact that my rear driver's side suicide door latch is missing all three mounting bolts:confused:

2009 TRD Sport DC V6 4wd Auto. I got the stereo amp problem fixed. Plus someone at the dealer must've leaned on the left-rear door, and I noticed a slight 'dent' in the panel. Dealer did a painless dent repair for free. So I'm a happy guy :)

    6. Wind noise @ speeds as low as 25mph. I also have a problem with the AC outlet in the bed (not working properly). Guess that would also be an electrical problem.

    6) Issues: Only owned/driven less than 2 mos and real pleased, but just for the sake of contributing:
One issue is the wind noise, especially at hiway speeds, especially at back floor of cab, almost like something not sealed - need to investigate. All around cab wind noise solution will be sound deadener I 'spose.
Second issue is slight RPM increase (jump) at stop after 15-20 seconds after full stop. This I do not understand!
Third issue is rear springs TSB needed. A firmer suspension not needed as yet, actually enjoy the soft ride - almost like my previous 4Runner. But purchased for work and gearing up for some field work/hauling. I will need all it is advertised to be.

Good Question - These do not seem to be connected. Also the action is not consistant. I am going to document more and talk to the dealer. Thanks!

    6) Lunge with slightly elevated RPMs 10-15 seconds after coming to complete stop.

LOTS of folks talking about this one so I started watching other trucks on the road, especially the Tundras (have a lot of them on the road around here apparently). They do it too... if you don't apply firm pressure on the brakes after coming to a complete stop the truck will move forward slightly, almost like you were bumped from behind. Even with the brakes firmly applied, 10-15 seconds after stopping you can see the body of the truck shift forward slightly.

Tomorrow I'll have to try this out in a parking lot: come to a complete stop and 5-8 seconds later drive off again and see what gear I'm in based on speed and tach. I'm betting I'm still in second gear until the "lunge" happens which would be downshifting into first after a complete stop.

    Anyone tried this yet?

    6) Pedal Feel ? / Noise

I've only had my truck for a weeks and so I'm still trying to figure out what's normal.

Have definitely noticed the road noise but rather assumed it might be due to my offroad tires. I've also been taken aback a few times while listening to my stereo loud enough to drown out the noise of the truck. I can feel some slight movement/shimmer through the pedal and think there might be a noise to go with it. I turn down the stereo or bass to listen but there is nothing there. Also a bit of whining moving up the gears perhaps. Now that I've read this thread I can pay closer attention.

I have tried this, and researched it, and it seems the truck wont drop into 1st gear until after a stop. The "Lurch" you feel is in fact teh tranny dropping into first gear.

6e) Rear Sliding Glass Molding - Fixed twice, 2nd time replaced Rear Window
6f) Bad Clutch - Replaced German Sourced Clutch With Chinese, much better
6g) Heater went out - Replaced Heater

Believe it or not, I still love my truck and have no regrets. To Toyota's benefit, everything but the clutch pedal has been completely taken care of and seems problem free at this point.

I haven't been able to make my truck do this. Is this problem specific to certain engines/setups?

I experimented with it some more today and found if I come to a brief stop (less than 2 seconds) then let of the break to coast forward for a second the "lurch" will happen right before I step on the break again. I guess since I'm pseudo-idling the drop into first passes a little push to the wheels but not enough through the torque converter to raise RPMs.
