Bought a used 2011 Taco DCSB. Came with 1 master key and 1 valet key. Lost master key and used valet key. Decided to get another key made at locksmith. He programmed the key and it starts the Taco. The immobilizer warning light stays lit when the key is removed and flashes twice continuously when Taco in motion. Did not notice flashing light until home.
Dealer said the smart(?) key ECU would have to be replaced. Checked with locksmith, was told they could cut key and program it. Other than immobilizer light problem everything else is fine, so far. By the way the 2011 has to have a "G" key, Small G engraved near plastic part.
Read most posts relative to this problem which helped decide to enrich dealer as little as possible. Any ideas on how to get warning light back to normal. The black electrical tape fix would probably be the cheapest.
    Any wisdom would be appreciated.

I would question the locksmith and the master key he made, the light should blink once every 3-5 seconds with the key out of the ignition and not blink at all with it in the ignition.

Local small Toyota dealer stealership is just that. They charged $15 just to obtain key code from SE Toyota Distributors by internet. They'd also talked like they entire process would be around $300. Called a large dealer 50 miles away. They quoted price of around $100 to cut/program ECU. As I wanted the process done right I paid for additional Toyota cut key and to make sure all keys were input to ECU and the immobilizer warning light was turned off. Only there 30 minutes and happy with the results.
The good dealer and a dealer in my old town both said the $15 key code charge was BS. If something seems excessively priced contact other dealers to compare prices.
The local yokel will not have my business in the future.
