I just got into an 08 SR5. It seems like every Tacoma I see mobbing down the road with it's parking lights on. The inside blinker light is on. Mine only runs the outside. I checked all the fuses and what not. Is this normal for 05-08?

When you see a Tacoma with the inner(blinker) light on, it has Daytime Running Lights. Yours doesn't have that option, and requires a relay for it.

The ones you see on the road with the inside blinkers and they are newer models , i believe 09 + have this lights on in all times when daylight.

Mine 09 Tacoma lights stay on when running.

    De-badged and blacked out
On 2013, you can turn DTRL off.

medic brings up a good point. To clarify, OP, the DRL's run independent of the parking lights.

on my 2013 the inner lights have four modes

    -off
    -on solid bright as DRL
-on solid, but dimmer than DRL, as a park light
    -turn signal

the inner lights act as turn signal
the inner lights act as bright DRL's when DRL is selected on stalk
the inner lights are much less bright than DRL when acting in tandem
with the outer lights as parking lights

They're not 09+ specific, my 06 has them, as an option from the factory.

Somewhat related question ... When I remote start my truck, some days the DTRL's pop on as it idles, sometimes it's the outer lights like in OP's photo. What causes the difference?

My 07' does the same as OP. Doesn't look as cool as inside so I went fog light mod instead and are starting to like the look with them only. All preference and pretty cool that only a relay or some wires can do any mod.

As a funny note, I've noticed that the DTRL's don't come on after you start the truck until you put it in gear. Just a funny thing I noticed one day when I parked infront of my garage (that reflected the lights) and I saw them turn on as I went into reverse.

I have a 2010 – The DTRL's are actually one of my favorite stylistic parts about the vehicle!

    Normal.

Gauges are LED. The AC panel lights, as well as the illumination for the pushbuttons, are actual lamps and will burn out sooner if run all the time.
The gauge LEDs will last forever.

And I don't care for it either... been more than once I've been driving late afternoon and end up realizing that I'm driving a little late for not having my headlights on.
