Just got my insurance card this week. I am covered for free but I have to pay $90 a week for my wife. Now I hear in order for the socialist in chief to cover his universal health care they are wanting to tax my portion because it will be considered income.

My $0.02: If you have kids you need a hell of a lot more than $10k in life insurance. 10x your income is a good estimate for most people.

Also, any money spent on life insurance for kids is wasted. Mortality rates are incredibly low and kids don't provide any income so there's no financial loss when/if they die. Yes, I know funerals cost money, but again I say that the mortality rates for children are low enough that the insurance still isn't necessary.

none except for crappy hub caps and floor mats.
I have pretty good insurance now: Health, dental, and eye ( glasses). It costs me less than $60 a month and that insures both my Wife and I. But I have been between jobs more than once and when I do so, I went with a product from Blue Cross called "Tonic", which is a high deductible insurance plan. Basically, if you fall off a cliff and break your neck and have to go the Emergency room, you're covered. I call it bankruptcy insurance. That's about all its good for because you only get 4 Doctor's visit a year. Its around $75 a month. Probably more now that I'm in my 30's.

I was fortunate enough to be a PA state employee for 34 years and one of the perks is after retiring you get your health insurance paid for. Used to be 100% paid for but when I retired (2007) it was the first year you had to pay 1% of your final average salary. Can't beat that! I consider myself very fortunate especially when I read how things are these days with long term employees losing their jobs and health insurance.

Hmmm ... I might have to wait a week to get in to see my family doctor but I don't have to sell my house if I catch the swine flu. ;)

There is a doctor shortage up here in Canada but, for the most part, the health care is very good. :D

    Cheers.
