    Whats your reason?

I know alot of guys who focus just on isolation that are in great shape and can lift very heavy. There seems to be a huge divide between those that isolate and overtrain and those that focus more on the big 3 and and form. Both seem to have very good results.

Im trying to educate myself with an unbiased opinion. I seem to be caught in the middle between the two different types of "training". One person is telling me one thing while the other is telling me the opposite.

Seems like some of you guys are bodybuilders some of your guys are weight lifters.
Bodybuilding, mass building dominate, focus on more hypertrophy, and progressive loading in weights and sets.
Weightlifting, nervous system dominate, focus on max effort lifting and CNS efficiency.
tired of the argument one is better than the other. in the end do whatever works best for you.

I completely understand man. When I first started this year I did isolation moreso movements and such. I DID not have the muscle for it. So then I went to SL 5x5's and did that for a month or two. Low bar squated a decent weight till I realized the form was shit. Plateaued on that. Umm added in my old workout (which is Big man on Campus on bb.com) on my off days cause I didn't feel like 5x5 was enough. That slowed down as well. Went to STRICTLY mark rippetoes SS 3x5. Was doing that up till this monday, which I plateaued on again. Now I am doing power bodybuilding. Its somewhat similar to 5x5. Basically it incorporates all the big lifts with beneficial lifts following. Holy essay FUCK
Sounds good! I did stair climber today for 20 min. Was sweatin pretty good; legs are a little sore as well.
I agree man. Honestly do what ever works for you. People say I need to do 5x5 or 3x5 which I do agree. I think those are good for me right now since im not really 'strong' or 'built' but I think I either need more sets or less sets more reps. IDK im still experimenting and probably will be for a year or two. Plus switching things up isn't a bad thing:cool:

If you aren't a body builder, don't do isolation exercises. It won't be worth your time and you won't get as strong as if you were strength training.

Also strength training is all about plateaus and failing reps. You cannot get stronger without breaking plateaus. Joining the Strong Lifts Inner Circle, gives much more information and understanding, than just following a PDF.

I love my fiance' more than life itself, but she completely ignores any fitness/nutrition advice unless it say "Jillian Michaels" somewhere on it... I said, "honey, I can help you, I'm in pretty decent shape..." Buuuuuttt no, gotta have Jillian Michaels protein, and a Jillian Michaels DVD, and this and that....

holy shit bro, i'd pass out lol

Here is what i end up doing

    Jefferson squat 95lbs x4

Warmed up with 225 for 20 for the hell day back squat lol

did 365lbsx3x6 took abount a minute between sets
    then to 405x2
then tried to do 455x1 but could't lock it out and had to drop it barbell.

on to quad extension to stretch out the muscles, did 4 sets of light weight.
on to ham curl same 4 sets of light weight
on to hip abductors same routine

went to stiff leg deads on a elevated platform to stretch out the hams
    did 4 sets of 135

Last did 4 sets of overhead barbell squat with just the bar to stretch out.

didnt do cardio cuz i was buckling just waking outta the gym.
