I've got old maple floors in the house now but they painted them  and there are gaps between the boards plus old holes where radiators used to be. They set the flooring in line with the sub floor planks so as the house settled and shrank, they spread also. Every 3 boards, I have about a 1/4" gap. I'm not sure if I want to attempt to refinish the floors or rip them up and put new hardwood down. I'd probably put oak back if I went that route.

Fuck it, carpet ;) Ripping up a floor while living in the house and only being able to work on it nights and weekends would suck. It would probably be worth it in the end. Another reason people love the pre finished and floating floors, dealing with sanding and poly is a huge hassle when someone is living in the house

Hell no! We have area rugs over them now but I won't carpet over them. I figure I can do a room in a day and I can close off one room at a time, my downstairs is a loop of 4 rooms with stairs in the middle. I can close off one at a time and refinish the floors in sections.

The upstairs has carpet and I'll probably keep it. I actually like carpet in the bedrooms, makes them feel warmer.

Depends on a few things. If this house was still my in-laws' house it would suck. 2 adults and 2 teenagers. For just me and her it's not so bad. The living room floor did kind of suck but we only had to deal with it for 2-3 days..and we had the couch, TV, etc in the spare room already it was just kitchen, hallway, spare room, stretch to the stairs up to the bedroom.

Oak is awesome. All the beams in my house are oak from our front yard, and my entire room, floor, walls and ceiling are covered in recycled oak planks from a house about 200 years old. The grain is so close, and so fine because of the cold winters back then, not to mention the planks are rock hard.

My parents have Barn hardwood floors. looks great and they don't bitch when i drop stuff, The dining room has the same floor the floor is level for table but the table is STUPID in my opinion its a barn table so its not flat and if you're like me you can spill a wine glass with ease. My mother likes the old barn/granite and stainless look. I could give a rats ass

We can be the poor little stock guys traveling together. I just don't want to mess something up because of my impatience. I've bought the parts I want, now I just have to wait for either them to be fab'ed or shipped.
Here is whats on it's way:
Lift; Toytec 3", 5100's and AAL
    Sliders; All-Pro
    Dif guard; Defined Engineering
    LCA skids; B.A.M.F
Super front skid; working with a fab guy on creating a different type of front/ifs skid (this is in the design stages still though)
Now I just sit here and wait....

The lift and sliders should be here tomorrow, just won't have time to get them on before Saturday. All the other parts should trickle in over the next month or so.

I've got to ask, what's the point of the LCA skids? :notsure: Doesn't seem like it actually protects anything. There are a few weak points on the LCA and none of them are helped by the skid. Just curious
