lol. westen is kinda short i think. but pretty skinny like 130 i think. lol. so he can jump. it’s not like he is a fat chick or anything.

    I can’t say much, i’m 5”8” and like 120 or so.

edit: also 35” on 3” you have to cut a lot more. if i was him i would not do it, you have to cut the finders quite a bit. if it was pretty much an off roader and not a DD i would do it. other wise i would just do 33” with 3”.

Who did the install???? I can definitely do $800 for a regear! Guys in the 6" lift thread said it'd be about $1900-2100! no way I could afford that!

5'11 and 130 :p I'm goin with a 6" and 35's. Anyone know where to get a pro comp lift for less than $1700? Thought I saw one for $1200 last time i was lookin? Could be wrong. But that would help out a ton. And why are 35's so damn expensive?!? Hahaha

Damn, 4runners must be different. To run 35's I need at least 4.88 the best is 5.29 the stock 4.10 struggle on my little 265/75/16!

i think 5.29 on 35's is perfect. on 37's it's not quite as good as stock but much. that's why i feel 35's would be perfect.

It is my local mechanic... He does really good work.

3" lift with 35s doesn't need a bunch of cutting. You do need a deep CMC, the pinch weld beat over flat, and a small about of trimming on the fender. Set the caster forward to about 2.5-3 and you should be good to go. That is what I have done and I have no rubbing.

I'm just gonna do a 6" lift. And can you get me his business name? I'm about to call my local gear guys and see what they'll charge. Is that just install or with parts too?

The point of regearing is the extra torque to turn your bigger tires without putting extra strain on the motor and drivetrain.
Rpms do effect mpg. The higher the rpm, the harder the motor works and the more power it makes. Meaning that the faster internal parts move, the more friction is created inducing hotter temps, burning more fuel, requiring the cooling system to work harder, etc ..... All equals worse gas mileage. To make a proper comparison between gear ratios and gas mileage, u can't go off of the mph u are goin. U have to go off the Rpms.

So if u take your stock 3.88s vs. your 4.56s, you have to look at it like ....... When I'm running 2k Rpms in 5th gear, how hard is my motor working to keep me at the rpm. Obviously 4.56 create a lot more torque so it takes a lot less effort to keep u at that rpm, meaning better gas mileage because u are using less skinny peddle. The reason u can't compare mph is the higher gear essentially creates more revolutions per distance which in turn diminishes your overall speed so at the same mph, u will be spinning the motor at a higher rate, thus creating more work on the motor itself. Of coarse there is a certain extent at what mph this starts to really affect mpg. Just ask Cody about his 5.29s and gas mileage ....... I doubt he's very impressed when he's doin 70 on the interstate.

So I just called my local guy. He can't get 4.56's for my front so they'd have to do 4.88. He wanted $1600 for parts and labor that comes with a 2 year warranty. What do y'all think? That was way higher than I was hoping for.

He charged u $800 to only install the 3rd members though right!? What did u pay for the 3rds from ECGS? That's your real total. 4wheelparts quoted me $1100 to just install my gears into my existing 3rds but I already have all the parts. Problem is, they are a bunch of bitches and told me they had never heard of Nitro gears and they wouldn't be reliable for whenever they start to whine and then explode because they are cheap gears. Haha I just laughed and said ok that's fine. Then they gave me all these excuses about how they never install parts unless they are bought directly through them and how they would have to check with a manager on it but a manager wasn't there at the time. So I just left

Why can't he? Those should be very easy to get for your truck. The price sounds good though

Not sure, theyre sponsored by Yukon gears. I might. Be able to get the 4.56 gears on my own though. Which would be better? And really that good of a price? Haha

The guy that did mine is a local guy and buddy of mine. I can give his number. He is in Lebanon. That was just for labor no parts. I ordered the parts from ECGS. I got the Nitro 4.56 thick. You just have to send your cores back when you are done installing them. I would have to look and see what I paid ECGS, it is on their site. I think it was like 1100-1200, but 800 to install, so I probably had about 2k in it. That price might not be right either, but if I remember right, that is close.

The RPMs being high and worse gas mileage makes sense to me, but I have read multiple posts on here that say that is not the case. They had some valid points and seemed to know what they were talking about, but I don't know. I am with you, it doesn't seem right.

At 70 with my 4.56, I went from 2200 rpms to 2500. Of course I haven't checked that with the bigger tires. My speedometer is off, so I would need to use my gps app to see where I truly am. I am going about 10% faster what the speedometer says.

So would I get worse gas milage with 4.88's?? And now that you say that, $1600 sounds like a pretty good deal haha.
