    So I finally got my shock back on, guess it isn't limiting flex like I thought. Jacked up the truck on one side, eye to eye was like 22.5

    i will be buying jerry's 8" 4.56 gears when I get to moab, unless I can find an axle locally soon lol. The hunt is on for a TRD rear.

    im preparing to get it. Ill have to regear the axle anyway to match the front so if i can get some 4.56 ring and pinion and diff lock switch for a hundred bucks ill take it. have a lead on an axle at the moment, just gotta check it out and see if i can get the right price.

    Oh yeah... haha had a brain fart there. Forgot you have factory 4.56's.




    Went out to see if I could find a place to mount my spare driveshaft underneath the pickup somewhere and noticed that the rear skid is rubbing on my tcase drain plug and has caused it to leak a little. I guess they must have been touching before or I have bent the skid because everything else looks fine (motormounts, crossmembers, tcase mount). I also noticed that my UCA's pretty much hit my wheelwells at full stuff. The passenger one mangled one of my compressor bolts. haha If I had anymore up travel I would have to cut holes in my wheelwells to clear the UCA's or take a BFH to them I guess.

    except the one out of the wrecked truck Ian almost bought the first time im going to go look at. hope to god the axle is undamaged and they dont want a shit ton for it.

    Psshhh!! You and I pretty much weigh the same and I jumped the piss out of mine!

    Pulled the skid off and tightened the drain plug down and only had to add 2 ounces of oil to top off the t case so all is good again:D Well mostly...

    Remember when I went out to Shelley a couple weeks ago and said I may have bent one of my skids. Well is what I bent was the frame and that is why my t-case and y-pipe were rubbing on that skid... Luckily it is nothing major on the frame and should be a big deal.

    are the 1st gen and 2nd gen rear axles the same lol? 8" for the TRD? are they different widths?

    They are basically the same, use the same ring and pinion at least. But yes I believe 2nd gens are a bit wider. Might be useful if you ever decide to LT the front end!:D


    EDIT: Just remembered you are buying a 1st gen 3rd member (or is it just the R&P?) I don't know if the thirds are swappable between 1st and 2nd gens.

    Same diffs. But wider. 2nd gens are like .75" wider per side about.

    It's very nice actually. Super quiet smooth. I actually like the auto..makes me relax when driving it. Love the back seats and room. Came with a bed extender too which is nice. Decent stereo. Put me in debt for the first time in my life which sucks. But ill get over it. Well taken care of tho.

    All DC 1st gens are V6 autos. Just like until 2012 all DC 2nd gens were V6.
