As far as I know it's both. UG says they don't currently monitor tranny temps, but there is no tranny temp feed for it to read either.

Thanks. The tranny temp would be the only reason I would purchase an Ultragauge.

Scan guage 2 with x gauge will monitor trans temp. I just got one and installed it and it works.

As cool as it would be to install a supercharger, I think your reasoning is a bit off.... For the amount of money that you will be investing in the installation and set-up, vs. the amount that you will actually be saving, I don't think that the cost savings are really going to add up... My guess is your mpg while towing may go up a couple points, and the overall mpg while driving while not towing is going to go down.... It sounds like you already have the rig that you need to tow right now, granted, if you want a supercharger, by all means, get one (I would too if I had the cash!), but I wouldnt do it purely based on saving a few mpgs while towing...

What are the codes you are using for the XGuage function of the Scan Guage? I had TFT (Trans Temp) on my 09 FJCruiser (same engine) but not on my 2013 Taco. thanks, Terry

I found the problem. Your settings are correct and now work on my S/G. My problem was that when I transferred the gauge, I made a new TFT so I had TFT in XGuage in slot 0 and slot 1. I followed the manual to delete the old one and it works fine now. Thanks for your info. Terry

    Thanks, Terry

Hoping to get this thread active again. I have been pulling my TT for 2 days now. started in NH and heading to New Orleans for work. I am very impressed with my 2011 DC V6 manual. I have been keeping track of how many gallons I've purchased and when I get to NO I will figure out my MPG. My only complaint is a slight lack of power on inclines especially when the AC is on. Was really surprised how much of a difference running the AC made. I never considered using the cruise control because there are so many hills on the route. I am using 6th gear far more often than I have to shift into 4th but spend most of the time in 5th. I am so tempted to pull the trigger on a S/C now that I know the TT is comfortable to tow with my Tacoma. My only hesitation is if I should just trade the truck with the money I'm not spending on the S/C for a Tundra. Would any of you that added the S/C and are using it for towing trade that decision for a Tundra now?

Given that your trailer tires are rated (when maximumly inflated) for no more than 65mph, towing faster than that is dramatically increasing your risk of tire failure. I tow my travel trailer (3750#) about 7500 miles a year; I run Goodyear Marathons. Like all ST tires, they age out in 3-5 years, so I replace them every 3 years. I like towing with my 2012 V6 at about 60mph in 4th gear. I'm running airbags helpers to eliminate rear end sag (the bed is loaded with gear).

Cool trailer! What year and make? Did you restore it yourself? Looks clean I haven't seen one with a rear door.

Wish this thread would go back to discussing towing with a supercharger

My 1955 Airlight (riveted aluminum airframe trailer) was completely remanufactured, CampTheWestCoast, frame-off, new floor (chassis scraped, sanded, primed, painted) new Dexter Torflex axle, new electrical wiring and fixtures, new propane lines, new 120vac/propane 'fridge/freezer, new commode and blackwater tank, flatscreen tv and blu-ray player, fantastic fan, etc. I did not do all the work, no. FlyteCamp.com in Bend Oregon, the premier westcoast shop for trailer restoration, did important work, though the body lift and floor replacement was done by Timeless Travel Trailers in Denver, Colorado. I did the two twin beds, replacing an ill-suited and too-difficult-to-use dinette on one side over the wheel-well (ugh) and a pull-out gaucho bed on the other. And I built the cabinet over the sink to match the other upper cabinets. (Typo in the tow weight posted as 3750# should be 2750# with 500# tongue weight) Yes, her door is in what I like to call the highly desirable rear entry position -- how often can you use that phrase in polite conversation? -- which provides for an expansive floor plan in a 12' body.

I would not consider the Tundra as an option instead of the S/C Tacoma, but it really has nothing to do with towing. The S/C'd Tacoma is more than adequate for my needs (5,000lbs +/-), but my primary use is not towing.....it's a daily driver, weekend warrior, etc. that happens to be used for towing too. If you told me towing was your PRIMARY function then the Tundra becomes much more attractive vs. the S/C Taco.

......damn read the dates wrong, thought that question was asked a couple weeks ago, not a year and two weeks ago......oh well.

Picking up a SC tonight to help my dcsb lifted on 33s tow my sxs. Thanks for the post.

I tow in 4 right now, being able to tow in D would make a world if difference and make the purchase worth while. Hope this is it for me!
