I thought they were assembled in America, Texas. Truck maybe, but no ship.

That's what I thought too. So to me, it isnt right. Unless its from Japan?
I doubt it, I have yet to see a 2nd Gen Tacoma from Japan.

Though does anybody know if the numbers are promising OR it could be done better.
    Need feedback. Thanks.

Mine was manufactured in Texas, yet I had to wait for it to come into the Port of Jacksonville. I suspect that depending on your locale, it's cheaper to transport a large number of vehicles via ship as opposed to driving cross country.

    Dragon,

FWIW, I just purchased a Silver 2013 V6 4x2 Prerunner, TRD Sports package, tow package, mats and wheel locks for $27,750.00 + TTL. I didn't have a trade-in.

While negotiating the price, my dealer also said that a "custom build" would take 3-4 weeks. While checking the inventory of the dealers in my area, I did not see any reds, blues, pyrites or spruces so your dealer may be correct when talking about the availability of reds and blues.

Suggest you use Edmunds and Truecar to give you an idea of how much to pay for a red Taco in your area.

I'm aware there aren't many red nor blue. It's what I want. Though it's just the fact the price is too high & they're just playing games. I will check out the site you recommend me. And what really threw me off that the DEALER stated there are 3 red tacoma on a ship.

Also if you don't mind me asking, which part of CALI did you got your Tacoma from?

Hi, everybody! I'm new here and to the Tacoma. I'm in search of a new spruce mica DCSB 4x4 base model with sand beige fabric interior, black fender flares, convenience package, all weather flooring, and the tow package. I've been working the #'s with the dealer. I'll be trading in a 2011 Corolla S (I owe $13k on). They are offering me only $13k for my trade in, which isn't too bad (at least they are paying it off). So they offered me $27k OTD for the truck I want, except it's the wrong color (interior & exterior) Silver & Graphite. They are saying if they have to order the truck I want in the colors/options I want it will cost a little more. I'm guessing around $27,500-$28,000 OTD. So my question is: Is this a good deal? Any opinions?

    Dragon,

I live in the SF Bay Area. If you know the area, my dealer is on the peninsula.

Haha, I was just curious. I used to live in Cali. Is yours a long or short bed?

Trade-in isn't bad since your car is from the same Make & you'll break even. $27k OTD is a good deal just because the truck you want with your specs isn't available on the lot or in the area of other local dealers. It would cost more for the dealer to FIND & bring it to their dealer for you.

Just picked up a reg. cab 4x4 SSM. Shipping and taxes in Hawaii is outrageous but was able to get it for 23K OTD.:)

Just drove my Tacoma home. Nautical Blue exterior, Graphite interior, 4x4, V6 w 6-speed, Baja wheels, SR5 pkg, Tow pkg and TRD short shift; $28700. That's close to the fair market value for my area so I am pleased.

definitely cheaper out of Mexico. We ship tile out of Altimire to east coast on ships. Not sure about Texas. Although all Gulf States vehicles go through Houston and you are one of the lucky ones that gets to deal with GS.

buying in final days of month does work. Dealer called me Saturday to say they had truck. I stopped to look at it today.
I wanted to pick it up on Saturday to put my first payment on 6/20. Sales director asked what they could do to finalize tomorrow. I said that I did screw up on pricing by cost of tube steps. They said fine we will throw them in. Said I did not want just make it $34 even. They also added nitrogen to tires. With nitrogen sticker is pushing $38k.

It all depends on what package you want. SR5, TRD OR, Baja, or Sport. Go to Edmunds and price out what you want. For a TRD OR I was looking at $30 - $30.5. Edmunds will give you true market. It supposed to be average of what people are paying. I would aim lower. Keep in mind that dealer invoice will be higher than what Edmunds shows. I would use Edmunds and tell dealer to pack sand when they show you theirs. Here are 2 keys I learned: do not get in a hurry and take delivery on last day of month. End of month for me worth $350 plus a third key.
