So on the 2012, I started having from time to time a grinding or or brake squeal sound.
I'm almost sure that it is coming from the brakes and maybe the rear.
I have been checking them with a heat gun and not really a lot of heat but the rears are as hot as the fronts all the time. Most of the time with not using the brakes much and short trip they are 135 to 145 deg.
As I said the rear are as hot or 2-3 more then the front.

The truck has 15K on it.
I do tow an ATV trailer some, it also has brakes on it so I know I'm not overloading the brakes and they are about they same loaded and unloaded in temp so I know the trailer brakes are working as they should.

Anyways I always use the E brake even if it is an Auto trans.
It has only been driven on the road other then one time on a farm path and some on grass or gravel roads.

It does not do it all the time. I did have it grab like I hit the brakes with both feet one time but only with light pressure, and it about locked up the brakes. After 50 more feet it was fine. That was a day that it was blowing rain lot of wind and cold. Everything felt wet even on the inside if you get what I'm saying, It was just 100% damp.
So that day I thought it was wet disks or drums.

I got to say I use it as a truck, don't really wash it and only sprayed it off a few times over the last 9 months I have had it.
Was thinking it would be dust or drum dust from normal use building up but the temp has me thinking.

Most of the time the front gets 75% brake and rear 25% or so about.
That is why the rears are always smaller and less of a brake system.

ANy thought on the sound coming from the brakes, and why the temp would be hotter on the rear?

Anyone else check there temp and know what they run?

    Any thoughts on it?

Was going to try to wash and spray the front and if able to spray around the rear drums to wash any extra dust.

If others have the same scraping or light grinding at the point of almost stops then I was not going to worry about it.

Remember it only does it from time to time and not like something it stuck in the brakes, I have had that on other offroad rigs.

    Thanks,

Have u ever done a hard brake check while in reverse? I read awhile ago sometimes this helps reset the boot positions in the rear brakes. 15k shouldn't need any machining done..

I back in to park all the time but slow, I will try it.

How do the rears adjust, is it like others that backing or using the E brake do it.
It is almost like the rears are just adjusting on there own too tight is my thought.
I really don't want to pull them apart. If they need anything I will carry it to the dealer to have them look first under warranty but if something I can look at or check, clean first or if it is just normal then fine...

Not sure on that, I usually shy from the dealer because this is my only vehicle so it's a last resort. I have done the reverse at about 10 mph and hard braking when my brakes felt kinds sluggish and it seemed to help, I will look around and see what I can find.
