    New weisco high compression piston and a stage 2 hotcam and you will be blown away how much better the power feels! I have the same setup on my xr 400 (same engine basically)

    Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
    I am really loving mine, but want it to go faster haha, but one day will get a 450r and hopefully be able to keep the 400ex for trail riding, it kicks ass on the trail. Yesterday I was driving over packed snowdrifts that none of the utilities could even hope to get over, they kept sinkin' proof that sporties can go more places than utilities when ridden right! ;)

    In my opinion, a 400 is good for starters and younger riders but you will soon find it's limits. I had a Kawasaki KFX400 ( same as a Suzuki Z400 ) and it was a fantastic quad. Very reliable and gobs of power. I rode that for 3 yrs and tired of it. I stepped up to a Raptor 700. Lots of power and super fast. I would recomend staying away from the 450's. Their really set up for racing and not that great for trail riding. Also no reverse. You cant go wrong with a Raptor 660 or 700. You can lug them low or wind them out. Awesome trail bikes. I also have a Kawasaki KFX700. Its a great sport atv but is automatic instead of clutch.

    Thanks for all the opinions. I have checked out an 04 660 and it was in solid shape but i read they are top heavy and easier to roll. I was also told they have 2 carbs which is just more shit to go wrong. There is a kfx 400 for sale its an 03 and he wants 1900 im sure i could get him to atleast 1800 since its been for sale for awhile. Read the kfx is very reliable and very minimal maintenance

    They are around trust me, more will pop up this spring when people start having garage sales and realize how much dust that old atv has been collecting and get the urge to get rid of it. You will pay a bit more for a newer one simply because they have reverse, or you can get a early model like mine for under 2k. Not having reverse isn't all that bad, most cases I can turn around before I get in a position where I'd have to be pushing and pulling.

    I had a 03 few years ago bearing carrier was about to fall out lol

    Im on the hunt for a clean one (like original tires, no mods etc).

    Would consider an older one but must be clean

    Price seems right, and I know where you're coming from on the bearing carrier issue. My carrier is going out on mine and I am down until I replace it. :(

    majier makes aftermarket plastic,s maybe get some white plastic from them? just dont spray paint it or something dumb..

    I'm gnna get white plastics try to paint the frame black. Derp the rims for now until I find a set I like. Get new black steps and maybe a bumper up front. Get some devil horns or some other Toyota emblems for it

    I had one a few years ago. I only rode it a few times though... I ended up replacing the cracked yellow plastic for some nice stuff during the short time I owned it.

    Nice! Too bad you didn't keep it, those early model EX's had the best body style in my opinion.

    I haven't posted in this thread lately but my quad has been down for quite some time :( need new bearings for the axle but I ordered some parts so they should be here by the end of the week hopefully!

    I just ordered a ton of stuff for mine. Pretty much rebuilding the topend with new parts. 440 kit, stage 2 cam, 450r carb, crf450 timing chain, gt thunder headstuds, tusk clutch, cfm oil tank, uni filter, and a few other odds and ends.
