    I love the unique look of the FJ, but I would still buy a 4 runner trail before an FJ. The blind spots kill it for me on the FJ - I HATE blind spots and the FJ has some nasty ones.

    There's no contest between a 4runner and an FJ on the trail. 4runner for groceries, FJ for trail.

    What?
    You hit the center diff lock button and put it into 4-low. It gives the exact same capabilities. Look at the Land Cruisers.

    False. Look under your taco, the front shafts spin all the time. Also, people have made 2wd kits for the AWD Land Cruisers. No change in gas mileage.

    I have a 2007 FJC with 118k miles. Automatic tranny that always gave me 19mpg combined driving. Now my wife's snow car.

    I now drive a 2012 DCSB Tacoma. Automatic with 12k miles. Mileage is the same. The tacoma has a little better rear leg room but it's not a noticeable improvement over the FJC. The motor is definitely not as spunky as the FJC. I miss that.

    The blind spots are always a point of contention with the FJC but my Tacoma isn't stellar with the rear seat headrests. That's why god invented mirrors.

    Get what makes you happy, the cement FJC is the color I would choose.

    Ahh difference of opinion, I pretty much only do little forest trails, which definitely sways my opinion to a shorter wheelbase. That's why I got my lil trail rig. Nothing against 4runners, they're the best looking one of their vehicles IMO.

    Yea I pretty much think anything between 4R, fj, tacoma you can't go wrong. All very capable off road. Your right difference in taste
