You need to check your state laws because they are WAY different than anywhere else. Asking those questions on a national forum are a good way to get yourself in trouble. Know and follow your local laws and you reside in one of the worst states in the nation for firearms so you will have lots to read & learn.

If I'm buying from a random person I use cash, if I'm buying from a store I use a CC.

If you're buying a rifle/shotgun you'll only need a drivers license and fill out a couple forms. And be 18+.

If you're buying a handgun you'll have to take the handgun safety test (takes 5 minutes to do, common sense questions that a 8 year old could answer). Once issued your handgun safety card, you will need a drivers license and another form of residency (any gun store could be more specific with this but I'm pretty sure a DMV registration form or utility bill should work). You'll also need to be 21+ for a handgun.

    Read up here: http://oag.ca.gov/firearms/pubfaqs

If you're buying your first weapon I recommend a .22. You'll be able to learn basic fundamentals easy, and plink away cheaply.

They're both awesome rounds, but for hunting I prefer my 6.8spc. The 300blk really shines as a short barrel suppressed gun.

I do plan on building a 300blk pistol this summer and probably turning it into a SBR.

i'm undecided which caliber i'm going to get my SBR in. 300 blackout is nearly impossible to find ammo for. the ammo i have found has been 2$ a round :(. but if you reload, you're golden.

Reloading is the only way currently to shoot a 300blk, but ammo should start coming back into stock soon.
