truck wont start

    Should be source voltage minus maybe a volt there is a acceptable drop in circuit,if it cranks shouldn't drop below say 9.6 volt

    With the gauge of cable used, you should see less than quarter volt drop at the starter. Since the cable goes directly to the starter solenoid you can test this without having to engage the starter. You are simply testing to make sure there is not a problem with the cable itself. HOWEVER since you can start it with a jump, this should not be an issue at all.

    Check all your grounds, my truck was doing the same so I looked around and found that I knocked a ground off.
