BTW, I ended up with Currie Johnny Joints because Ballistic didn't have their 1.25" LH rod ends in stock. Read plenty of stories of Johnny Joints holding up for a long time so whatever. I might dis-assemble them and drill out the centers to 5/8" though. I guess most people had problems bending 9/16" bolts before having any sort of issue with the joint itself.

This things are huge. Just keep them greased up well, good thing you didn't go with trail marts joints they wear out pretty quick on the road.

Maybe so... if you're going to make an entirely new frame, why not just scrap all the sheet metal and make a tube chasis?? :p lol jk, man. If you think it'll be better for what you have in mind, go for it! You'll have a better idea of what'll be going on under your truck than I will... Good point on selling the frame/suspension as a whole.

Thanks for the input, I think I'll just stick with keeping the OEM frame under the cab. It would probably be too difficult to make everything fit just right if I made a frame separate.

I was looking for a DS drop front D60 for a while but haven't found many for under $1000 near me. Maybe I should go junkyarding.

Found a few D70 rears. Should make my truck like Macho Taco on Pirate :D

Need some help here... guy advertising a 'Ford D60 Kingpin'... but says it's from a '95 F350. I thought they stopped using kingpins in '91?

This is the only picture he sent. Knuckles look like ball joint to me but it's a crappy pic and I'm no expert haha

That is def a ball joint 60, honestly I'd rather have a bj 60 over kp if its going to be driven in the street. The bj 60s are often looked at as weak but they are not. The c's and knuckles have a lot more beef to them.

Unless you buy ubber expensive ball joints it wont be as strong as a kingpin. Even then its still not a kingpin. You can upgrade the C's and knuckles if you have issues on a kingpin axle but you can never upgrade a balljoint axle to kingpins.

I'm not necessarily concerned about the strength of a ball joint, rather I'd prefer the kingpin because of the high steer issues and trail serviceability.

Can't remember who was asking about it but this is what I was talking about for a dual case cross member/mount.

Front Range Offroad sells a Tacoma one that you can do whatever you want with. I will probably use it myself :) I believe it's only like $100 with hardware?

If your using toy cases low range sells just the plate you see in the pic, link. FROR has the tacoma one but not sure I like as much as the others, link. If it were me I'd add alot of beef to the FROR piece. Just make sure you use the same mount material through out. It it possible to break a case in half with this style mount if done incorrectly.

Keep us posted on how they hold up!! I know theres a bunch of different variables in builds, but I havent had good luck with either Ballistics or Creeper joints so far. Might have to go JJ next time around or just swap out for Heims.

There was a guy on pirate that tried a custom frame then he realized it was a horrible idea and used the OEM frame from under the cab
