I'm starting to finally get the hang of the TW search engine and I think I found an MG/MGM 1st gen (not a DC though). The funny thing is this guy who made the switch did just that, red color to gray :p

It's tankcoma04's rig....Gaawed it looks so bad ass, and I really want to see it in person!!! I would love to have the MGM color on our 1st gen! Here's his thread (click on tankcoma04's pic):ScreenShot2013-04-27at112249AM_zps3526d6_b61062c6d51d2893a35c6f1b58bdda4b87b331d5.jpg

I would hope no one is using a long travel suspension as a "beater truck"

whatever you paint it, I'm pretty sure no one's gonna be like "oh wow look at those door jams" as you're flying past them :D I always liked red on first gens.

but if you're going ANY color I kind of always wondered about...what do you call it? speedway blue? the 2nd gen blue ?...yeah that blue. I just wondered...didn't say it'd look great I just think it'd be unique.

As someone else mentioned, it's a lot easier (cheaper!) going with the stock color, since you don't have to do the door jambs and other non-exterior sheet metal. My '99:

I'd say stick with the original color, you could probably just get it professionally restored and it would look brand new for a lot cheaper.

If you are set on changing colors, then I'd go with magnetic gray metallic.
