During lunch today I ran out and had a flowmaster 40 series (42441) put in place of my stock muffler. Since I already had it dumped at the axle, I just had them put a turn down afther the muffler. So far I like it. It hasnt really broken in yet cause of it being new...so its fairly quiet still......Will update as it gets a little miles on it.

Well drove it home from work. Honestly it's not super different than before. A little deeper but that's about it. I'm surprised how quiet it is with a turn down right after.

Mine got quiet after the turndown. The Flowmasters won't "break in" much. Should have gone for the 10! :D

i just told em throw a 40 series on cause I saw it was most common used.

Alot of the quiet could be due to the cats. I can probably get the rear ones removed at some point.

I went today during lunch to see if the same shop would ditch my rear two cats after the o2 sensors. They wouldn't do it. Said its illegal. If I had a welder and some pipe I'd do it myself but I don't. He first tried to tell me it's gonna mess up my computer but I schooled him that no it wouldn't cause they are after the oxygen sensors. He said hack em out and bring it back. They can fix exhaust leaks. Blah

You can get a free flow cat that is gutted. Pretty sure that's illegal too though.

Meh. If I'm hacking the piping ill just junk Em. We aren't big on emissions in TN so I'm not sure why the place was even worried about it.

I had a 40 put on mine when it was a month old. As you mentioned, it sounded almost stock....very quiet but a slightly lower tone....even with the turn down. I eventually took it off & currently have no muffler.

I got a VX exhaust which is basically a flowmaster and it sounds great and much cheaper, had it for 8 months now and still sounds great.

ask the muffler shop to take 1 cat... .. I had a ranger and they said they couldn't take both but could take one and it would still be legal.. check and see if that's the same issue..

What part of Tennessee are you in? If you're anywhere close to Cleveland, I know a shop that will do it without a problem. Bradley county doesn't have emissions so trucks go in there all the time and have them straight pipe it, etc. they do good work too.

Ha! I'm sure if you pre-pay that fine for them, they'd gladly do it.:D
