Just go with water and cloth to clean, no chemicals. Your console should be covered under your warranty though. There was a TSB for the dashes flaking, but not the center console.

    what he said.....

it could have been damaged at the dealer or some point before you took delivery and the dealer did a half-assed job fixing it - poor prep work

Something scratched that. Something in a pocket or on a belt as someone was reaching across it or into the back seat.
When was the last time you had someone work on it and how soon after did it start to peel?

The rubber pad is completly removable... should be able to have the dealer order you a new one.

    What he said ^

I think something must have happened that you weren't aware of; whether by yourself or a passenger. Mine is 8 years old and haven't had any problems with all different types of cleaners. Granted they may have changed the material, but I still bet something happened to it.

Note to self, don't peel at unsightly bubbles.

probably because of your arm resting there, skin could be causing the problem. i have to wear watches with stainless backs and synthetic bands or my watches start corroding bands too. my arms sticks to my console so i use a cover. just an idea, get dealer to replace the lid then cover.

Looks like a defect in the vinyl or naugahyde, what us old dogs used to call it. Maybe the nauga had a skin condition causing it to peel. Warrantee should cover it. The defect doesn't have an even margin like you would expect from a scratch from a sharp object. Looks like the top layer didn't adhere to the base layer.

Apparently the lid isn't sold as a separate part. When a few TW members wore out the latch button, the dealer could only sell the entire console bin.

And Armorall can in fact cause dryout and cracking over the long-term. Stop using it and don't tell the dealer you used it.

no scratches, no one worked on the truck....it was slightly bubbled.... curious rubbed it n it flaked off, then it jus continued to lift n flake off soo i jus rubbed it more with my finger n it flaked off in that pattern, only used a armorall wipe maybe once, and my arm is more in the center of the console, i was thinking of that, maybe the lotion on my arm n the heat maybe..but it dosent seem to match up, still thinking it's jus a manufacturing flaw, u see swirls n random lines n what not's in molds, i figure this is jus one of those.... still tryin to think if any thing got on it but as this moment i have only had my new truck for 2 months............ service dept, see u tomorrow:D

    Good luck.

Unfortunately, I believe you about the way it peeled, but they may say that it was scratched. Like someone else said, they won't sell just the rubber, but you can look at a junk yard and just take the rubber for probably pretty cheap.
