Thanks, yellowtop is almost 3 years old. I'm on the coats in florida, which is a recipe for short battery life, and it's still going strong. it runs a lot of extra stuff, sometimes without the motor running, and shows no signs of slowing down thus far. yellow for sure over a red.

Agreed. I had nothing but HORRIBLE luck with red tops. Never a problem with yellows.

Thanks for the reply. Heat in Florida kills the battery ?

heat, humidity, and a very corrosive environment. even with globs of dielectric grease, i have to take my clamps off and clean terminals every couple months. we've been in the mid 90s all week, so heat is definitely an issue with lifespan

That's a new one on me "very corrosive environment". Salt in the air ? Salt on the road kills frames up here but battery terminals are good so far on my '08.

Cleaned up my headlight lenses in the process of doing BHLM. I used the 3M Headlight Restoration System (39008):

Put a coat of clear over those to keep them that way.

Good idea, I was about to paint my father in laws SL55 bumper so I will probably use some of that. Would you recommend clear coat or 3m clear vinyl? Seems like if the vinyl gets messed up you can just peal and restick a new one.

I'm originally from VA, with family in jersey, so my truck used to live on salty winter roads. I thought it was bad until i got down here. As the crow flies, I'm less than a mile from the intercoastal, and about 2 miles from the ocean.where i park for work is about 200 yards from the ocean. I've seen 2 year old vehicles down here with frames that look like they spent 10 years on salty northern roads.

the yellow top has held up like my batteries used to up north, but the non sealed batteries seemed to get their lifespans cut short by about a year or two.
