haha, oh i know probably 1000+ pounds. lol

the garbage cans are kinda heavy. They are full of plastic(milk jugs, water bottles ext) and news paper. idk why but the place we go to puts all recycle in one big dumpster. makes it kinda easy all i have to do is lift and dump the garbage cans.

edit: i’m hauling off the cans later this week. i have probably 8 or 10 maybe more construction grade garbage bags full of crushed cans.

And then people wonder why they make you put cans and bottles in scanning machines one-by-one now.

they don’t do that around here. only place i have seen that done is in NY, where you get like 5c a can.

here you just dump them all in a scrap ben and the use a fork lift and put it on a scale and see what it weighs, they have the weight of the scrap ben on the side of it, and just subtract that weight from what the scale says, and find out how much scrap you have.(aluminum, steel what ever it is you are taking off)

They charge you $.05 a can when you buy them here in Iowa and you get it back when you return them. They can't be damaged to the point where the barcode can't be read.

yeah it’s the same way in NY.

W don’t get anything back for each can like that. you can either take them to the scrap yard and get money, or just throw them in the dumpster when you take the trash off, but if you do that you don’t get any money.

Those scanner machines are dumb though. They won't accept cans from Minnesota, even though the cans say they can be deposited for 5 cents. If you take them to the hyvee help desk they will cash them for you.
