Umm thats a corn snake...

 

what's the best way to pick up a snake with a stick. I tried to pick him up to get him out of the road, but he didn't like it (and I wasn't sure what kind he was) and I had the dogs with me, so was kinda handicapped on picking him up anyway

 

I'd just let him be, with it being a wild snake it may be a bit more likely to bite even though Corn Snakes are normally very docile

not very likely. but i have seen copperheads that have a the colors and patterns of a corn snake. usually they are a lot darker though and the patterns are not as visible.

edit: BEST way to know is look at the head. and eyes.

 

and also Copperheads/viper snakes are usually shorter and fatter

 

I usually just grab them right behind the head with one hand, and hold the tail or close to it with the other.

 

that's the only reason I got closer to him. If it had been one of them, I wouldn't have tried to move it.

sadly i have had to kill a rat snake, because mom saw it, and is worse then chris is with spiders. was yelling and screaming at my to kill it the whole time.

 

No. I was out walking the girls when I saw him. I know some people like to run over any living thing in the street, and much as I don't like snakes, i know they have their place (as long as it's not in my house or yard) I'll leave them alone.

 

Only took me a year to get these relentless sliders on.
