    Basically, if the s/c is pushing more air than the Oem components can handle, it will cause the effective reading to be higher than it would be if it could flow more freely. Due to a back pressure.

    Increasing the efficiency of the header design. Just because it it at a lower psi doesn't mean that it is flowing less. It could very well mean that it is flowing more. Relative to the components at play.

    Flow=CFM=Power. Not PSI.

    I get that too. Always had a hard time explaining to noobs on the supra forums that a bigger turbo at 8 psi is flowing more then the 12psi out of their stock turbo..lol

    Okay..i guess that makes more sense then..

    I need to just keep thinking turbo shit..lol SC stuff is a tad different..but not that different.

    Yup, you're right. If you think in turbo logic, it helps. :thumbsup:

    There is a difference there too though. The wastegate will always try to maintain the same atmospheric pressure of the manifold based off of the spring size. Increase efficiency of certain components and is still might read the same as before. But just make more power. But this is all relative to a specific scenario. To keep from really going off topic.

    The turbo system is not as dictated by the elevation changes correct because the turbo can build to a certain pressure and then release?

    No its still effected by elevation.

    A supercharger runs a fixed rpm and can only make a fixed amount of boost based on its inlet pressure. However, I wonder if a turbo can spool higher in thinner air due to the decreased density and theoretically achieve the same mass flow rates as sea level? Has anyone seen any data that turbo engines lose less power at altitude than superchargers?

    Dibs on the supercharger if this means you're going turbo.... :)

    oh..well yea..you can always just up the boost..with in a turbos limits that is..and your supporting mods(block, head, fuel, ect).

    But i know a few guys that ran full on stand alones and had different maps for different elevations to retain the same similar power out put..but the wastegate just stays closed longer and lets less exhaust out at higher elevations give more "boost" even tho the amount of o2 flowing into the motor itself is generally the same. So power is about the same.

    8.7 psi on Garrett GT3582R, makes 396 whp at sea level. :cool:

    exactly..would take me like 10-12psi outa the same turbo to get that power.

    Haha ill be fine. Thanks for the offer though lol. Gonna drive again today in much less wind and see how it feels on a more level playing field. Where I'm moving is a few thousand feet lower elevation which will pick up the power too.

    And now I know why I am not thoroughly happy with the S/C... I don't think I am making boost (not much anyway), just more noise. Investigation time...
