Hello TW, I am finally looking into upgrading my exhaust and I need some help/input from ya.

My question is, is there any exhaust that is louder than stock, but not too loud and throaty? Just a bit beefier?

I really hate loud exhausts like magnaflows and flowmasters on 6 cylinder trucks(I know a lot of members like them, they're just not my cup of tea). What exhaust can make my truck sound/be more powerful without being throaty like a weedwacker

I've watched countless videos of different exhaust systems but no camera can really capture the sound that well, or at least not well enough to go out and spend hundreds of dollars and end up not liking it.

    Stock...for now
TRD exhaust sounds good and is not too loud.

Check some sound clips, or better yet go to a muffler shop and try to explain what u want soundwise (louder is subjective). Have them temporarily clamp a few mufflers on 1 at a time. Tell them NOT to let u know what brand they are until u hear 1 u like.

That way ur not swayed by names.

U may also take intakes as another option/combination

I just installed a Magnaflow Off-road series straight through catback exhaust on my Part Number 17115. In my opinion it sounds perfect. It's not too loud like the American Thunder Flowmaster. It's just throaty enough. I found a couple Youtube clips of the exhaust I have, but they don't really do it justice. And there is minimal cab drone as well. It only really gets loud when you stomp on the accelerator, but to each their own exhaust really. I just know that I didn't want my truck to sound ricey and I didn't want it to sound like a Bro truck either.

Yeah I was thinking about a CAI too. Not TRD though. I don't have that dough haha. And I'm gonna edit the original post: I've watched countless videos of different exhaust systems but no camera can really capture the sound that well, or at least not well enough to go out and spend hundreds of dollars and end up not liking it.

I had MagnaFlows larger/quieter 22" muffler welded in and it was hardly louder at idle and only noticeable if really romped on. It was perfect IMO.

I believe the part number was 12586, or something along those lines . . .

It seems like URD is the best bang for your buck.... except the fact that you have to cut into the sheet metal in the engine bay.

Its thin where u cut and can be done with a dremel easily.

The drawback with urd is u can't go through auto car washes, u gotta be careful with the hose when hand washing, u can't let the dealer wash the truck, u can't cross deep water, and the maf sensor does not seat very well and the connection is stressed due to the fitment of the maf sensor on the bung.

Since the stock intake is a CAI, is there just any way to make that one louder??

Maybe.....oem air systems usually have silencer deals in them, but I've never paid much attention to ours honestly.

I went with volant dry filter with the ram combined with the exhaust I have makes mah v6 sound sexy :) just the right amount of rumble. Idling isn't too obnoxious either, but I listen to my stereo ridiculously loud so I can't hear shit anyways

I just listened to some sound clips of the magnaflow. I really like the sound compared to most. Where is the cheapest place to get one? And does the way you route the exhaust out of the muffler affect the sound that much? Because I was thinking a y pipe coming out at 45 degree angles... dont judge me haha its a southern thing

The Magnaflow off-road series catback exhaust has a turn down pipe right before the rear axle. It makes the truck look clean (no exhaust protruding out the side or back). Honestly though, the sound clips don't do this exhaust justice. Just look up Magnaflow 17115 and you'll see it come up with the offroad series. Depending on what year of Taco you have the routing of the pipes could be different. Mine is just a single pipe--->muffer-->turn down pipe right after muffler. I can also take pics of what mine looks like and send it to you. Mine for my 2013 was 310.99. Don't ask about what I paid for installation, my dumbass was too lazy to install it myself. I'll never make that mistake again because the install would have taken a whole 15-20min.
