So I know bob has a dog so ill talk to him about it when he gets back from cruise, but to anyone else that's bringing a dog...
I may be adopting a whippet (small greyhound) and am thinking of bringing her.

    How will this limit me?
    - sounds like while in Rocky Mountain national park, arches, canyon lands, won't be able to go hiking, just roadways and overlooks and such.
    - hotels on the ride to and from may be a bit more selective
    - takes up room in the backseat and uses more water
    - if we go out to dinner we'll have to make it quick and park in a shady area with the windows cracked

Anything else you guys can think of? This would be my first road trip with a dog

That sounds pretty spot on. Also, hiking on slick rock will tear a dogs paws up, it is like sandpaper. Obviously it will be quite hot, so that needs to be taken into consideration as well.

Bob is kenneling his pooches. I will probably try to find out where so I can reserve a spot for my two unless a relative watches them.

Like stated before it rips up their feet. Get the dog boots or mittens or something that way they can still go.

As for restaurants leash them in the back, park in shade, an leave a water bowl out too.
