Just spoke with the local dealer and he told me Toyota Canada just raised prices on the Tacoma and a few other models. The 4x4 access SR5 4cyl jumped well over $700.00 and the price of the freight went up as well .whats Toyota thinking?

    Supply, demand and why not?

The Tacoma is a big seller here, (I see them everywhere) and it is difficult to snag one. The dealer I purchased my truck from (in late May) told me even pre-owned Tacos are snapped up before the dealers can detail them for re-sale.

Happy I got mine before they did it though! :D

Interesting. I would've thought that the rising dollar would have the opposite effect. The cynic in me is wondering if they are also going to offer some incentives for Tacoma's in the near future (which they NEVER do up here) and that the price bumps are just a way for them to ensure that they still sell at the same price they did before the price increase. It also may help the dealers in that now they can negotiate a bit from MSRP where before they generally didn't. Smells like marketing tactics to me, but who knows.

Raven is right though, they do sell very well up here and I can see why they don't need to deal on them.

More of the same from Toyota... It took them forever to reduce their prices when our dollar was near at par, and now that the US dollar is sliding against ours yet again, they jack it up... I have no doubt they are making money hand over fist off us, but they just can't seem to leave well enough alone when it comes to their prices...

That said, I'm glad I got mine before the price jump:D I got lucky too, the dealer I got the best deal from had my exact model coming in the day I went to talk to him. The other dealers I was talking to before were trying to get him to let it go. We had a bit of a chuckle over that.

although U.S dealers won"t sell to a Canadian citizen has anybody thought of getting somebody in New Hampshire to purchase a new Tacoma for them? I'd flip a fellow $500.00 cash to buy me a Tacoma and sell it to me as used.I say New Hampshire because there's no State sales Tax. what do you guys think..good idea or bad?

they did not give ANY incentives in canada this year, were in the US they gave $1500 factory rebate..

Here the demand is strong so they make some $ on it.

I'd be really concerned about the warranty. I know when the dollar was at par or above the US buck, that was one of the main problems with people buying vehicles down there, their warranty was null and void. With new vehicles, I'm pretty sure Toyota Canada would only warranty vehicles purchased in Canada. I'm not sure what the warranty implications would be for imported vehicles though. My hunch is it wouldn't be good, LOL.

There's not allot you can do. I'm more concerned about paying what I think is a fair price for the product I receive. When I compare it to other vehicles, I think the price still is fair. We generally pay more for all vehicles so I suppose it's somewhat relative.

There's another way: Have a drunk driving illegal alien with no license or insurance ram into your tailgate. Then you get a new tailgate with nothing on it if you wish.

No issues with warranty when a Toyota crosses the border north or south. But Tacoma's are hot sellers in Canada. Used Tacomas sell for big money in B.C.
So they are trying to make money were they can. Thats the business.

You might be right, NMG. It was around this time last year that they started to include the Tacoma in their Gas Incentive program. Has anyone heard when the 2010's are coming out?

I had heard that there was a waiting list for them (Tacoma's in general that is). I used a local company to purchase my truck for me. They put in a call for me on Tuesday and the truck arrived Thursday morning.

the warranty is valid both sides of the border.

it's just that hey are not allowed to sell you one in the US if you don't have enough US residency proof (visa, social security number, credit score, etc)

Glad I got mind when I did. But I saw the price raises coming with the economy starting to come back on track. I also got it for the lowest interest rates ever offered on a Tacoma (in Canada) :D

Haha rising dollar, what a farse. Wait till the end of the year when the 17 trillion they have printed starts having its effect. We may start seeing Weimar republic type inflation. Its amazing the value people put on paper.

The Canadian dollar is rising versus the US dollar... Which only means it is sinking at a slower rate. The Canadian dollar still seems to be down against the Euro and the pound from a few weeks ago.

Indeed. By then one Canadian Dollar may get you a buck and a half worth of US Dollars.

So? Canada has socialism and everyone is happy, right? Why worry about little things like the price of stuff. We'll be joining you soon! I used to live in Ontario and I gotta tell you Healthcare in Canada is THE WORSE.
