What wiring kit

Im looking for a wiring kit to hook up one Alpine M450 amp to one Kicker TCVT102 10" sub. Does anyone know where I can get a quality wiring kit that has everything I need for close to $40?

This kit is nearly the same. I am a fan of Knukonceptz (even though they have a cheesey name) because they sell good quality products for a good price and have very good customer service.

The description for the alpine amp recommends 8 gauge wire but do you think I would be fine using the 4 gauge or should I just get what is recommended?

 

If you are going to route it so that you have a major length of wire, go 4. But otherwise you can use 8 no problem

 

So if im not running any major length of wire could I go with the 4? Would there be any difference between the 4 and the 8?

 

cost. Just make sure you are getting a QUALITY 8 gauge wire. They are not all created equal. Remember, the smaller the number, the larger the wire.

I've seen some manufacturer's 4 ga be no larger than a quality 8. It was all a thick wire jacket appearing to be much larger than it really was. Diesel Audio was the offender in this case.

Any of the reputable (it will be more expensive) wire will be true to gauge.

 

The 4 gauge was only 10 bucks more so I just went with that. Thanks for all the help so far goblue Im probley going to have a lot more questions once everything gets here and I start wiring it up.

 

1. I bought the kit listed above by knukonceptz, the groung wire is only 3 feet but im going to need at least 4 feet. Does the length of the ground wire matter? I was looking on their web site and all there kits include a three foot ground wire, is there a reason for that?

2. Can I run the ground wire next to the power cable, or will that cause interference?

 

The shorter ground wire, the better.

You can run it where you need to no problem. There is zero chance of getting interference if you run it next to the positive wire.
