New Pioneer stereo, and all 4 speakers with Infinity components. Sirius satellite radio. Deckplate mod done. Door buzzer silenced forever thank God, tinted windows, vent visors, hood protector(bug guard), ceramic pads and new rotors, dechromed EVERYTHING. 2" Lift front 3" rear. Skyjacker AAL's and replacement leafs(and front spacers) from Fatbobsgarage.com. Skyjacker 7000 Hydro rear shocks, those Bilstein 5100 fronts are coming soon!
I have a set of leafs in my 00 Taco. They are defeinitley needing some lift or replacement. If I buy an AAL can I omit the one broken spring in my set of leafs, and put in the AAL as a replacement? What I mean is... I have a broken spring on one side it is the second spring down from the top(I will post a pic). Is it possible to remove that spring on each side and replace it with the AAL, OR should I just buy a set of Skyjackers?????

i would personally just replace the whole spring pack....unless you can get your hands on a used set of tacoma springs and replace that spring with another of the same exact size etc

you can replace the leaf on both sides with an aal without any problems. if you want a new leaf pack for a good price, check out wheelersoffroad.com.......they have replacement leaf packs for stock height for a good price. if you go that route,i suggest getting new main eye bolts and possibly new u-bolts. the old ones are probably rusted in pretty good, and i know the main eye bolts will be completely rusted in.

I looked for a set of originals online, new and used, but it's next to impossible. Trying to save cash, but want to do it right also.

Whatta we talking in price differences?

In other words...What's an AAL kit cost versus replacement leaf springs cost?

If you swap out the broken leaf and put an AAL in - there's no quarentee what type of lift you'll get from it (versus what the AAL is advertised for).

Personally, I'd get a totally new set of leaf springs.

AAL's are OK - but knowing your leaf pak is already stressed to begin with, putting an AAL in will further stress the leafs. I'd hate to see you buy an AAL and a year down the road (example), another leaf spring breaks from the stress.

That's exactly what I was thinking too, I just wanted to ask y'all what your opinions were. I don't want to beat a dead horse, so I think it may be smarter to do the new leafs. I was between a set of OME Dakars and Sky's. The Sky's are $435 free shipping, Dakars are $5 less.... BUT the OME's do not come with bushings, and the Sky's do.

I do want to lift it too, I will be putting 31's on in a few months. I am sure I will be adding 5100's over spacers as I have been told the spacers mess with the front end.

if you are wanting some lift too.......definitely check out these....wheelers 5 pack leaves....they come with energy suspension bushings already in them. i have them on my truck, and they are great, and the price was great too. you can probably get a discount also, since they are a vendor here. just a heads up. i did the wheelers 5 pack with a set of ome 881 coils and billy 5100's(set at stock height) on my tacoma...double cab, and gained 2 inches in the front, 1.5 in the rear. the ride is great too.

Actually the U bolts are in really good shape, the truck spent 6 years of it's life in California, almost 2 in Jersey(Fort Dix area), and now in Florida since February. They loosen right up, hardly rusted. The eye bolts, well, that may be another story. I bought it from my bro in law and he hauled a lot of crap in it, stressed the springs as you can see. My quad probably doesn't help...
