Buy an obd2 extension cable(one with male and female ends) and pull the pin on that cable. So you plug the extension cable into the obd2 port and the UG into the extension cable. That's how I fixed the ABS issue on my truck. There should be a thread somewhere about it too.

    Haha yea yea yea.

I can't afford too builds yet. Haha but I will probably change it at some point.

As of now I'm enjoying 20+ mpgs on the hwy and 18 combined. Only thing ill do too it is add a mini bed rack to hold my RTT for camping trips.

    looks good.

and i need to go back and look at all the stuff you have done.:cool:

how you liking the DC so far?

I love mine. even though some hate the SB, i don’t. the SB hauls everything i need it to. and the LB still would not haul some of the bigger stuff i move. aka , rhino and atvs would not fit very well. they get loaded on the trailer, because most the time we go the rhino goes and at least 1 atv.

Only had it a few days. So far i really like it though. Will be very nice to have when im away at school. It also weird cause its very similar to Frankenstein..but also very different..ha

Eventually i will probably transfer over a lot of Frankenstein's goodies to the 03. Then make Frankenstein a more hard core rig with either full out LT or SAC.

Although maybe not..ironically Frankenstein has much fewer miles then the new 03...haha

yeah I took all the plastic storage dividers out from behind my back seats, i gained more storage. stuff moves around a little more some, but i don’t care I never hear it till i turn the radio down. It’s usually to laud to hear wind noise or stuff moving around.

I think next thing i’m getting is a soft topper. Also have a mod idea for the taco, but i got to look at it a lot, I think it’s going to be a lot of custom work. but it will also be a one of a kind, I have not seen anyone do it yet or talk about doing it.

and then saving for a 1st gen 4 runner to make a trail rig out of. not hard core or anything. but easy to moderate jeep trails, maybe some mud. i’ll put a marine radio in and get tube doors.

So I don't mean to come in a drop a giant steamy turd in your thread but I have been thinking about your trucks and had a question or two.

You've talked for a while about going long-travel on Frank. I'm wondering why. LT as you know is pretty expensive. I'm as big a fan of LT as anybody and I have thought long and hard about it on my own truck. That is what brings me to this question.

LT is great for hauling ass over rough terrain, and for catching a bit of air now and then. But looking at how your truck is set up right now with the bedrack and tent and everything else, you've got a lot of weight, and a lot of that weight is up pretty high. It isn't exactly the best recipe for going fast (at least not for going fast on anything other than mostly flat and in a straight line). I'm in a similar spot. Being able to go fast and actually take advantage of the LT setup would be difficult with the amount of body roll and less than ideal vehicle behavior with that kind of weight up above the bed/cab. Not to mention that going fast over that same rough terrain is still going to rattle the piss out of everything on the truck even with a nice supple suspension. And lord know you're not going to be jumping the truck with all the "expo" gear on it.

It seems to me that a good quality set of coilovers up front with some better UCAs and good springs/shocks out back are going to handle the terrain just fine with how you'd want to drive the truck fully kitted out anyway. So it seems like a gigantic waste of money and work to go full LT on a truck like yours (and mine for that matter.)

I have a similar goal to yours in trying to make the best "all-around" truck I can. I want mine to be decent at overlanding, rockcrawling, and the occasional high-speed stuff. But the problem with an all-arounder is that you have to make concessions because setting it up for overlanding naturally means it won't be set up as well as it could be for high-speed desert bombing and vice versa. You end up making it pretty good at everything but not great at anything. Know what I mean?

JBerry has an all-out killer truck that is dancing that line of pushing the limits of all areas. But his truck also doesn't have all the bedrack/tent etc up high like yours does.

Now if you're after the cool-factor of LT, then that's cool. I'm not trying to talk you out of it or say you shouldn't do it. I've just been having some of these thoughts as I've considered LT on my own truck. Without changing quite a bit of what I do with my truck it just doesn't seem like it's worth the cost to not be able to use it to its full potential.

    ....Discuss.

I am kind of shooting for a similar goal just not going all out on the expo side of things on the truck. I have decided to hit the crawling and go fast sides harder and just get by with a ground tent and whatever shit I can just throw in the bed and back seat as far as expo goes. Having followed some of your stuff Adam, you inspired me to go the route I have of leaving out the expo. My plan is to one day get a trailer like you have and put the RTT and all my expo stuff on it. Then when you come to some of the fun stuff (depending on the circumstances) you can just unhook the trailer and go play then pick the trailer back up and continue on your way. Like Moab for example you could just leave the trailer at BFE or whatever and go crawl on the trails. Of course there would always be the times that you just have to drag your trailer through stuff but a good trailer on 35's should do just fine for most things.

As for Monte, I think he should SAC/SAS Frank! It would be more reliable out on the trails for when he bumps up to 35's. I never bothered arguing it, since I argue too much as it is, but I did wonder how he planned on doing much high speed stuff with all the gear he carries.

    bunch of crap
very interesting topic, cant wait for Monte`s reply.

I myself am aiming more towards the weekend warrior/most reliable dd it can be.... living in the rockies, not much high-speed stuff to be had here... i camp a handful of times a year so no need to go full expo. but i do want it to be able to handle alot of what i throw at it, 7s-8s on the trail rating scale.... im honestly pretty close to being where i wanna be. not too many high dollar items i still want.... ill probly use it to enjoy the trails until it rolls 200k. by then i hope to have a different dd, then ill cut it up:D

i havent seen Jasons truck yet in person, but i would think it would be able to hold some weight up top..... maybe thats what Monte`s aiming for?
