4x Lockers?

Hi guys and gals!

I was thinking of getting a rear locker for my truck, and wanted some input. (I have been out of the off road loop for a long while)

Heres what i have;
07 4dr 4x4 TRD Sport
(heh, LOVE IT)


Basically, Im using it on bad roads to get down to creeks, streams, and rivers. Im not specifically going to go hardcore wheeling, I just want the extra tracktion if needed.


I would like a rear ARB so I can fully dissengage it. Is there another type of locker that I can fully dissengage? (meaning going back to an open differential?)

Does Toyota make an OEM locker?


I was talking with a friend, and he said its better to put the locker in the rear because its a straight axle. He said there is more things that will get torqued on in the front. (which made sense to me)

Do you people think its better to push or pull?

the trd tacos come with an eletric locker i think you should look in to a limited slip rear end an independent front end does not have the strengh for a locker

It didnt come with an electric locker. Could you post a link? I seen something like that i think from Eaton;

It looks like its similar to the ARB but uses an electromagnetic instead of air?

if you are not going off road alot i dont think youneed all of that it is nice
i have a locker in mine i guss they stoped doing that on the new trucks

 

I have the sport... my dealer said they could not fit my truck with a rear locker. Maybe it's just not an offered service.

Anyway, I can get the ARB air locker setup for $1800-(installed) at the local off-road shop. But they did suggest not to do it unless I got into serious off-roading. How to measure extreme off-roading? I'd probably find out the first time I do it...

 

thats the truth i would look in to some mud tires firt i have a locker in mine i go 4wheling alot and have used it 3 or 4 time not because i need it just to make sure it still worked
