I found the idea on TN and decided to give it a try, about $4 in parts and 30 min. to complete. Overall very easy to do and now I dont have to listen to the remote rattle around in the sunglass holder in the overhead console. The red momentary switch in the dash is the new door opener remote, I installed that switch in place of the big remote.

Do a DIY on this. Part #'s, where bought, how to do. I just keep my remote in the tray to the right of the steering column. It's slanted and doesn't really rattle that much but like your idea. Thanks

I use the same location. It is double-sided taped (heavy foam type) just above the removeable part of the tray on the left hand side. Just out of sight.

I removed the visor clip on mine and used double-sided tape and secured mine to the inside of the coin-tray door just below your button in the pic. Open the little door and it's right there, close it and it disappears. Plus it doesn't rattle. Just can't use the coin tray for coins now but I never did anyway. Simple, hidden, secure, cheap, etc.

I like your idea though, looks great.

I may be mistaken, and if this isn't the way he did his set up, I'm sorry.
He split apart his remote from his garage door opener, soldered a wire to each of the two contact points, ran the wire leads to the momentary switch of your choice and install in a switch blank.

On my truck there is a compartment in front of the ceiling map lights for a garage door opener. There's a button on it that pushes the remotes button. I guess it's not included on the fancier trucks.

    Kind of surprising, huh!
I guess we get a compass and temperature, but heck if I ever remember too look up there!
If I can't figure out what direction I'm driving or if it's too cold out to open the windows, Take my truck away.
I've got a home-link in my headliner, now. So it's water under a bridge in my book.

I used double stick foam tape and stuck it on the removeable plate that goes around the parking break pull handle. Out of the way and almost un-noticeble, but in easy reach when needed.

But I like the push button idea. I thought about something similiar but couldn't find a button I liked (didn't look too hard I guess).

A link to TN where this is posted or a write up for DIY would be nice though.

Does anyone know an easy way to get the door on this compartment off without having to remove the entire console from the headliner? I was going to try and squeeze the side/sides of the door with a trim tool to see if it would pop out, but it appears to be in there pretty tightly.

The door's hinges (for lack of a better word) are about 1/2" long on both sides. I broke one of them trying to get the door off, and now mine is held in with some screws where the plastic broke. It would be easier to take the whole console down to make sure you don't break your door. The cosole is just held in by one screw and two plastic clips near the windshield. Take out the screw, and give a firm tug on the front (closest to the windshield) you should hear 2 pops from the plastic clips, and then the console simply falls down. Nothing to it.

You should label the button. Maybe NITRO, or BOOST, or EMP or something fun
