    I don't have the skills or tools to do a SAC nor the money to pay someone to do it for me... I'm pretty confident I can bolt on the LT though:D
    You can still jump solid axles. They just don't handle the other high speed stuff as nicely as IFS, nor do they DD as well either.

    older gen (same style as the 1st gen taco) 4 runner axles are the same width as taco axles right?

    how easy would it be to weld on some spring perches and cut off the link shit you guys think?

    Fuck that! Link that shit!!! I don't know about the width, I imagine they should be close. Spring perches should be easy enough. I seem to recall somebody converting a linked axle to a leaf axle on here somewhere.

    Umm. No no links. Trying to keep it simple lol. Literally all I need to do is weld on the spring perches on top of the axle and it's done. Already has 4.56 gears. Guy wants 700. Trying to get him down to 5. Pray for me that he takes it!!!

    And a pair of spring perches is 13 bucks! Perfect! I fucking need that axle!

    Looks like a 3rd gen 4runner has a 60.5" WMS to WMS rear. Not sure what the 1st gen is, but Rock Assualt sells a "True Tacoma Width" front axle that is 61.75" so you might lost about 1/2" on each side in the rear. Should find a 2nd gen:D They are around 65" then you would be setup to LT the front!:cool:

    yet..IFS has won KOH...


    Kinda PITA..to do that id want 400 for it. honestly any more then that and you might as well just save for an ARB. 8.4 is stronger diff. And you'd get OBA for the rig at the same time.

    screw 2nd gen axles. You only gain like .5'' a side.

    1st gen tundra rear axle is where its at. 1.5'' gain perside. still takes the same 8.4'' diff

    KOH is more about speed than crawling though. IFS fails miserably in the hardcore crawling competitions...

    Can't you get a Detroit for like $400? Less work probably. haha Although I think you had a reason for wanting selectable.

    Correction, Lockrite for $400 from East Coast Gear Supply

    $1050 for an ARB.

    Idk either it isn't like he is gonna be running bigger tires on it. And honestly thy DD just fine. Konsta has DD his for why I think 3 years almost and I have DD mine in this truck and my Jeep for a total of two. Arb is nice though but a LR is gonna be the cheapest route and it is a install it and forget about it locker

    I certainly don't have a grand for an arb. And this one is half that...so why spend a grand.

    Also I simply need to have a selectable locker. I don't want something I can't control and I don't really want it on while dding. Personal preference I guess.

    And I'll have to look into the width some more. But I don't think it's a major issue

    Also monte how is it a pain? Cut off some stuff, weld on a pair of 13 dollar hangers, done.

    No they are not the same width. Dont even bother.

    Im with Ben, If you cant find a cheap elocker, go with the lockrite. Ive heard lots of good things about it for dd trucks. I can get you some info if you like

    alright guys, i got one last plan since it looks like none of these are working. Not sure why I didnt think of it sooner. I can take the bent axle out of ian's buddys taco (i can get it and the switch and harness for dirt cheap) and take out the third and actuator and the wires and provided they are undamaged I just need to find a not bent 8" trd housing and put em all together. Will I be able to use my axle shafts and maybe hubs and shit on an 8" axle? is everything else the same except ring gear clearance?

    ^ i seem to be having a lot more luck with this idea already. found 3 potential 8" housings, at least thats what the search results are coming back with. Ill have to go and rip that axle out of the truck and take out the third, hopefully tomorrow and see if its damaged. Hope to god not. If its not i should be in business. could have a housing for 250 and a third+everything for like 50 bucks!

    if the axle shaft bent from a side collision do you think the third is FUBAR?

    mmmmm....not sure if the shafts are the same or not...i think..but not totally sure.

    and you do realize that it'll be even harder just finding an axle housing right? Most people see them as a complete axle..

    I imagine the 3rd would still be ok but it is possible that it could be jacked up. I don't know if your axles will swap over though...
