I look forward to Shanahan's video commentary on this one. All of the fat necks on TSN seem to think it was a good hockey play. Looks like a head shot to me.

 

looked like a clean shoulder/chest hit to me. didnt leave hit feet or throw an elbow. the fault all lies with the terrible decision to try and pass through that zone

 

Shoulder to body was my first impression, but when I saw another angle I saw strong head contact and more of a glancing-type contact to the body (hence Eller spun around after contact). Either way, I agree it was a dangerous, pond-hockey style pass. Eller was put in a helpless position. Too bad he didn't know the defenseman was stepping up.

 

To me it looked like he made a conscious decision to avoid hitting Eller's head.

It'll be an interesting call, I'd like to see a decent video of the hit after they come to a decision. All Ive seen is just the youtube of it and that was not that great of quality.

 

clean hit, buddy pass so the responsibility needs to fall on someone other than the hitter sometimes.

The guy hit him as clean as possible, this is the NHL, keep your head up!

I've seen this identical pass in my shitty college level when I played. Our coach put a forward on D spot on the PP and sent that exact pass, needless to say our guy got obliterated. We all were like nice pass bro, you killed him . if you send that stupid pass at that level and get effed up, at the NHL there's people stepping up, for sure.

what i dont get is why have a hearing..... i look it as Diaz should be fucking sat for a stupid ass pass, like stated above he set-up Eller to die, but Gryba is really a no one, and who knows what the NHL will say

some angles definetly show head, but was it head because he was spun from initial contact and the carry through turned into head contact??

sucks as thats exactly what is going to happen.....
