    honestly Mark I drove a grizzly/eaton/detroit auto locker, lunch box, and they are VERY predictable, only reason I ended up going ARB was because A i owned it and B the Harrop/Eaton front E-locker was going to cost in the neighborhood of 2k just for the locker....


    biggest thing to remember, spin = locked, its all on power transfer, they work great from crawling because if both wheels have traction shes not going to be engaged and in winter I find they make you better drivers as your aware on ICE you will be turned around in a split second if you jam it on ice

    so confirmed I found an 8" housing in lewiston for 250.

    all i have to do is swap over parts from my axle throw in the re geared third, wire in a switch an im golden.

    also when i call these auto parts places and I tell em what I want they talk to me like im an idiot. That ask "well what gear ratio, what engine, 4wd or 2"? and im tell them it doesen't matter, im swapping parts and axles. Then they get all butt hurt and say its not their fault when it doesn't work...no shit. Just look the stuff up on your computer and tell me what you have.

    None of us... I am about 45 minutes south of IF. Ali's parents live in IF though.




    I'm with Andy! Just get the Lockrite. At this point it is cheaper and you can keep the stronger rear end, instead of spending more money to swap in a weaker rear end. Plus if you get the lockrite there is a chance you can have in it before Moab. I don't think you are going to get everything together in time to install the TRD rearend before Moab.

    im pretty much that way with any parts supplier now, they give me the options that work for me LOL like tires and I say nope this is what i need hahahaha

    i have 3 parts suppliers in town, all three know by name all three just order what I ask without really asking questions now

    all 3 now have called me for advice on other tacos that getting parts

    Have you ever browsed for parts on some of those sites. It is absurd how many categories they break things into. Sometimes the categories don't even make sense or are flat out wrong. haha

    When my wife would go get tractor/farm parts for her dad she would have a hell of a time getting the right part because the guy across the counter was convinced that he knew more about the part her dad wanted than some girl and she would argue with them cuz they were trying to sell her the wrong part and finally just leave and come back with her dad who would tell them she was right in the first place. haha It's hilarious to watch I've been with her for a couple of trips. You'd think the damn parts guys would just figure out who she was after a few years but I guess not...

    Forgot to add. Most of those parts guys don't know a whole lot in my experience and you can't completely blame them because I wouldn't expect anyone to know a whole lot about all of the vehicles out there, like us we know Tacos really really well but ask us questions about a Nissan or something. haha Those parts guys just take the info from you that the computer asks for and then they give you answers based on what the computer tells them.

    On the flip side some of them don't know fucking shit about vehicles in general and can be really hard to deal with...

    oh I know! on the country's largest parts data base you can't input a range of years...I have to select each year and start searching from there. And i realize those guys have general knowlage, but its annoying when I tell them that i dont care what gear ratio the axle is and what truck it came out of and they insist on arguing with me on why is does. I DONT CARE.

    Also, it APPEARS that the 8" axle I found is non abs...which makes using my axles much easier. also I don't really see any issue with using my non abs axle in an abs housing any way as long as I get a differnt seal for it.

    correct me if im wrong here, but if I just put a non abs seal in an abs axle and plug the abs hole i am gravy to use the non abs axles?

    You are beyond my knowledge. I don't understand why ABS would have a different axle seal... Or is the gap in the seal how they measure the revolutions of the wheel?
