I asked a dealer in KC about the black ones that come on the TX Pro and the Tforce. I will probably order a white one and would prefer he black over the bronze. He thought they quit offering them several years ago. I think all of these dealers need to get educated on what they sell. I ran in to a sales director in Dallas that did not even know what a Tx Pro was.

Agreed. If you like the bead locks, you'd be better off buying a set of bronze beadlocks online for $220/wheel, have those powdercoated and then sell your gunmetal ones for a pile of loot.

Reading conflicting information on the towing capacity of the Baja. Does anyone know what it is? If it is less than the standard truck, why? The leafs?

Thanks for the input. I loved the rims when I first saw them but the black powder coat would look BA. I guess I'll wait a little while since there's so much other stuff I want to do.

I am going to wear these dealers out before I place my Baja order. I just found out from Toyota CS that the TRD wheels are available in black or bronze.

The blacks come with the T/X and T/X Pro package. The bronze can be ordered from the dealer.

That is what I thought. I specifically asked Toyota if I placed a Baja order if I could get the black ones. They said yes but we will see when and if I actually place the order. Dealers do not seem to be up to date on some things. One said the blacks were no longer available and another did not know what a Tx or TxPro was.

Yeah, dealers don't seem to be. TW always seems to be the first to know.

    Here's your part numbers:

    PTR18-35090 - Black
    PTR18-35090BR - Bronze
    PTR18-35090GR - Gunmetal

Both the black and gunmetal wheels are on VIN restriction per Toyota. For some reason some online dealer TRDParts4U / ShopTRD / etc were able to secure a cache of black wheels for sale around September - December of last year (if not earlier...but ending around December). They offered them for sale to the general public. However, the VIN restriction must be significantly tighter for the gunmetal wheels as even those retailers were unable to get the gunmetal wheels.

I got the last set from TRDParts4U. They had two in stock and had to special order the last two (I don't know how they managed to get me a set, but I didn't ask). I was able to get a 5th wheel from ShopTRD, but I had to specify I wanted the black ones (I called to be safe) but they haven't listed any on their site for sale anymore.

I don't know of any other places online that sell them. You might be able to provide either a FJ Trail Teams or TX/TX Pro VIN to get a set.

I do know that with the Baja wheels the dealers are only able to get one wheel at a time, they cannot order 4 at once. I do not know if they can do more than one at once on the black ones. When I was working with TRDParts4U they were very worried Toyota would cancel their order of two at once.

I was told it is 500lbs less. I don't know why, or how much the bed capacity was dropped either

Just purchased a new set of the Gunmetal Baja Wheels from the local Toyota dealer. $1000.00. will be installing them on my 2012 white /sport. Local dealer says he can order the entire Baja Suspension kit, includes springs, front and rear shocks, and bump stops. $1500.00. All he needed was a Vin.# from a Baja and they had a white one on the lot. looks great, but the graphics would have to go.

rear spring is a 4 leaf while I believe TRDs are 3. Personally I think my rear end could go up. I am going to look at AALs. I guess I could do a block but not sure I want to go that route.
