Thanks. I actually installed a third strip on the front of the bed, on the inside, so that I have the entire bed lit up. I'm not the biggest "pimp my ride" fan out there, but I use my truck as advertizement for my shop, so I try to put everything on it for a rolling billboard so-to-speak when I am at car and truck shows and such. I also install the LED strip systems for subwoofers and the EL neon light micro strips. Next in line I have a set of underhood lights that will operate on a plunger switch so that when you open the hood, the lights come on, but there will be an override available for repair work underhood. After that I have several interior lighting systems that I have set up, and eventually I will have full parking and tail light conversion kits that will be plug-and-play with no concerns of the rapid-flash issues.

that would be genius. i think you could do well if you sold them on TW, i would def be in for a kit if you created a parking / signal conversion kit to LEDs that was plug and play. i think you could get a premium for something like that, as no one else has offered a PnP solution.

OP, I am researching parts lists now. I think I have the list of what I need, but I want to be 100% sure on the conversion. I don't have a 2nd gen, so I will have to talk to one of the guys here local in Alabama so that I can actually put my hands physically on a set of headlight housings. I believe from what I have seen that the turn signal lights are integrated in the housing. I have the general design idea in my head for the plug&play setup, but first I will have to find a test vehicle. I also am looking at building this in a 1st gen as well.

When you say "these same lights" which ones do you mean? We have discussed a couple I believe.

When it comes to white LED strips, you generally have 4 options. SMD 5050, cool white or warm white, and SMD 3528 in cool or warm white. Many of the distributors of these strips are selling on Ebay. What is the application you are looking for?

I'm looking into doing this mod to my truck. I was thinking of tapping into the wire for the rear parking light. Would adding these lights be too much for the existing parking light wiring to handle? They will be switched on and off via a rocker switch I got from OTRATTW.

    Thanks!

The reason I wired it the way I did was to minimize the hassle. If u go through parking lights you'll have to have the lights on, ignition on and ur switch on.

Load on the circuit is a non issue the ribbon is less than two amps.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have a locking hard cover on the bed, so I need my keys anyway. Unlocking the car door to flip on the lights isn't that much of a hassle to me. I like the idea of tapping the parking lights because with the hard cover, if something were to bump the switch, I wouldn't know the lights were even left on until it is too late.

Any updates on reliability? There are a fair number of reviews on Amazon citing failures of what appears to be the same product.

I wanted to post an update of my lights. They still work, but they no longer stick on their own. I came back from a week vacation with the family and the strand was hanging. I need to figure out what to stick it to the rails with. Any ideas?

I think some people have used 3M foam tape. Cable ties are a good idea except you might not be able to slide your cleats on the rails (assuming you use them of course).
