So where can I get these aftermarket lights for no money and in 10 minutes?

 

hehe i guess a 5 finger discount might work as long as you don't live near me

seriously i got mine online with the HID low beams for 400 for a pair

 

Well the mod itself is free, and if you already have aftermarket lights... lol I wouldn't mind trying this myself but I'd be concerned about melting the housings.

 

well it does look great at night but i also got the HID kit so that makes a huge difference too

 

i did a mod on my fog light and got some interesting results

what i did was pull the switch apart and broke off the post for the light ground and soldered it to the signal output post. this makes it so the switch is only illuminated when it is on. but it also makes it so your fog lights are on all the time if your vehicle is running (i did fog anytime mod). if switch is off, headlights are off, fogs are on. if switch is off, headlights on, fogs are off. i like it cuz they are now my daytime running lights and at night i have full control of em. i could post pics if necessary but if you have followed the fog light indicator mod, it has pics and shows what is what

 

i have the same relay same number 275-218 and the numbers are obbset of your diagram looks the same but for example your ground is shown on # 8 and its #7 on mine all the # are obbset on mine acording two the picture just trying not to mess it up could some one help me out and led me toward the correct way

 

Ok there seems to be too much confusion over this since you're the second person questioning the wiring diagrams/color codes. It doesn't really matter HOW the relays are setup pin-wise as long as it's a double-pole double-throw.

Refer to this diagram:



Regardless of the pin numbers on whatever relay is used just match up the light blue and light green wires to the constant side of the relay, and the other 4 to the appropriate switched ones.

For example, for the light blue wire match up violet to the normally closed and pink to switched open. For light green connect green/black to normally closed and violet to switched. Don't pay attention to pin numbers other than to match up that relay's diagram if it's not printed on the relay itself.

That just leaves power and ground for the coil to activate the relay.

When I did this I didn't have someone giving me pin numbers to go off, and I don't have the time to pin out every single relay out there. Use the diagram above to understand how this works and apply it to whatever relay is used. Think of it as blue toggling from violet to pink and green from green/black to violet when the relay is active. Wire whatever relay you have to achieve that goal based on the diagram of your particular relay without getting hung up on numbers.

 

Sorry about the confusion. Numbers 7 and 8 are interchangeable. 7 and 8 cause the relay to switch back and forth. Whichever way you wire those 2 connectors it will work. just connect a ground to one and the stock button (switch) to the other...

Just received a very helpful PDF from my inside contact at Toyota Manufacturing.

The posts that I found regarding programming the keyfob/keyless entry options were a little off for my (2004 PreRunner Auto with keyless entry) application.

This document worked perfectly for me.

I was able to set the "unlock both doors with a single click" option as well as the "lock doors on ignition on option".

Do you know if this works for the 05+ trucks as well?

I didn't see anything in the front of the document that says it's specifically for the first gen models.

 

It states for 2004 Tacoma. If they wrote it in 2004 for the 2004 model how would they know what a 2005+ truck does?

You could try it, but I bet it doesn't work unless they've kept the same procedures.

 

I would like to see one for 2005 also if anyone has access to the codes.

Well, if they wrote it in 2004, they would know everything about the 2005. The engineering would have been done, and parts manufacturing would be underway to support the next model year hitting the dealer lots.

Did anyone try this on a 2009 or anything besides a 2004?

 

i would love to but the instructions are very vague on what will happen and where. i would think it should work for me with a 06 but not sure till i figure this dumb thing out

 

I tried one of these for my '08 and messed up my key fob. I had to have Toyota fix it. I think it only works if you have the optional alarm system, not the factory key fobs.

I would love to find one that works, but from what I've read and heard, it's not possible.

When i tried the (much earlier) previously posted instructions, my keyfob also quit working.
I used the Toyota PDF instructions after my fob stopped and it worked fine afterwards.
May not help or apply to later models...but I am just saying that I thought that the early instrcutions also goofed my remote...but stepping through the ones I posted worked.
I just set to open driver first and pass. second click and the fob started working again.
I then selected the single click = both doors and all is good.

Tried the DIY to disarm the Seat Belt Chime this morning on my brand new 09 Crew Cab 4x4 OR and it worked brilliantly. Too easy. Thanks for the tip.
