    Correct. Axle shafts and housing.
Yup. Got one shaft out. The shaft snapped off a little bit in the third but no damage there, and once we unbolted the third the other fubar shaft slid right out. Inspected everything, r and p slide smooth as butter, side gears spin opposite directions as they should, diff actuator feels tight and solid. No chipped anything no metal shavings anywhere. Feeling pretty good about it. Just gotta figure out wiring now. And get te r and p from Jerry and get it reheated. Project fuck my bank account because locker has begun.

    :D

    quite exciting.

going to have jason send the R and P, going to order the minor rebuild kit, going to get the housing and axles next week...then the rebuild begins! I don't think im forgetting anything...

The only other "big" hurdle is going to be figuring out wiring. Have to figure out how to get the 4 wires out of the diff RR switch to the connect to the correct wires in the jumble of wires coming out of that white harness to the left, and run power to the locker. Pretty sure the locker has 6 wires...and the switch has 4 coming out of it. So i have to pour over diagrams till I understand it haha.

also ben, the deciding factor for me against the auto locker is winter driving honestly. I don't want something that could potentially be a problem while driving in conditions that i spend a lot of time in.

The only damage we could fine anywhere on the third. A little bit of scouring from the splines. They are only in this one spot though.

of course andy comes in bringing debbie downer news...said if the carrier bearing things got tweaked even a thousnadths of an inch the bearing will wear prematurely and ill still be fucked. guess i need to get that checked. please dont screw this project by a thousandths of an third member, ok?

i am very pissed i have to go that far. but i cant find anything closer.

im probably going with my mom lol. but ill make room for lunch. Maybe if you are that close you can even check out the axle for me and see how many shafts they have?

Hell no i dont want abs haha, the non abs shafts wont seal properly in the 8" axle. Unless maybe I can contact marlin who made an adapter for it...ill have to look into that, maybe even join pirate to ask them since thats where I got most of the info from.

is cool. You can make your own too. they developed software that does that. Open Source code too so you can tweak it to your liking. Pretty cool

That is a really cool video! I love the perspectives, like that one is in a rocket that can rotate, the upside down views are cool!

Well... one moar day, and then i have due dates off my back for a while! Two moar papers, some fitness exercises, and I'm done for a bit! Then all I have left are some classes to finish more slowly over the next few months.

Monte: I'm still wanting to do a mod day, but have to save some money for things like the valve gasket parts and whatnot... Still need to find the right switch cover for my 3-way switch for the lights... what do you think of the below?

    The 3-way switch body: http://www.otrattw.com/products.php?cat=23
Cover: http://www.otrattw.com/proddetail.php?prod=VVAAB00-000&cat=9 (gonna see if I can get in engraved - all the other light covers are colored, and there are already green and red lights on the rocker body.

    So tentatively, I'm thinking:

finish Hella wiring with you teaching me wiring techniques and me asking away haha
Wire up my secret project (remember?) - again, you teaching me... I want to know enough, that I can learn how to put a switch on my radio antenna, so that I can control when it goes up and down - that'll be the test of my knowledge haha.
valve gasket replacement... probably spark plugs and wires while we're in there...
and hopefully finally get my external transmission cooler on. I've had mine for a year now, almost as long as I've had the truck, but I haven't been brave enough to mess with the radiators and such...

My goal is to get all that done this summer in time for the EPIC trip! :D

Sure man I'm sure we can work something out no prob.

Probably do two days. One fire wiring and one for the motor stuff.

I don't really have a recommendation on covers haha

Glad to hear you don't think this will be too complicated! I personally am looking forward to learning more about wiring and about my rig! It's gonna be fun!

Two different days works for me.

And you lucky dawg, you got rain all day, we didn't even get a drop!

Just hop down there and take a pic of the axle so I can see what it comes with and what's all on it
Correct. Even if the truck does not have abs it still has the abs axles and the housing is still machined to fit the abs axle. It just has a plug where the abs sensor is. Basicially all trd axles have the ability for abs, but might not have the sensor
