    You actually can. We do it at work everyday. Our lights run off 120vac but we use 155vac bulbs. They burn dimmer but last longer. I did the same thing in my camper. The interior lights are 12v but I use 14.4v, again they burn dimmer and with less heat

    many forin made lamps will have those specs due to some 3rd world areas experience alot of blackouts and as a result see alot spikes in their electric grid so those lamps can withstand those spikes. However eventhough your lamps are marked 155v they work off typical US current of 115-125 v depending on the age/ condition of the equipment.
