    Neither are 4x4.

Was shopping again today for a Tacoma.. Whats the difference between the Texas Edition versus the TRD offroad package?

I saw a white Texas Edition SRD (I think) that looks almost exactly what I want (off road tires, nice rims, black step bar) and MSRP was only 30,800. Went over to look at the TRD's and they were 33-36k. Why are the TRD's 3-5k more? And if you had to test drive each without knowing which was which would you be able to tell the difference between the two?

Seat covers, weather tech digi fit, bug deflector, plasti dip wheels, magnaflow muffler, and many more to come!.. as soon as i get money. Ill probably go broke typing this...
A 2wd TRD that cost 33-36 k? Must have come with every single bell and whistle possible or may have been 4x4. That is the normal price range for the 4x4 TRD's but you said they were both 2wd so beats me.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
This, you pay for a sticker and maybe different wheels and pin-striping, that's about it.

Why would you buy a truck without 4x4? Just get a Prius.

Just screwin with you. The TRD actually has substantial upgrades while the Texas is just some minor cosmetic fluff. Either way the prices seem a little high.

Exactly! It's a rip off. If you want the Texas edition decals, buy them and put them on a TRD edition; I actually bought one for my M416 trailer lid ;)

I bought my 09 DCSB TRD Sport Prerunner for like $26,800 new. I but my '12 DCSB TRD Sport 4x4 w/Entune for about $32,200.

Texas edition is overpriced IMHO. But to each their own.

Note to Texas edition owners: please take to offense, just giving my opinion.

Hows the Texas Edition a rip-off if it's $3,000 cheaper than the TRD?

The sticker is $30,800 and they said they would go $28,500.

And I am looking to get a 4x4. Just trying to figure out if spending more for the TRD offroad is worth it.. Or if I will even notice the difference.

I will have to check out the difference in the seats.

It's a rip off because I got my 4x4 TRD OR at about $30k. Both prices sounds too high. And we normally have higher car prices than the rest of the states.

I agree. Prices sound too high. Don't buy a 2wd if you really want a 4x4.
If you do, then you will likely start another "4x4 conversion???" thread soon after.

answered. there is a huge difference in the bilstein shocks, although there is a TSB where you can get bilsteins put on the SR5 from the dealer. other than that, TRD has the power inverter in the bed, bigger alternator, bigger tires, better wheels, a rear locker, ATRAC, etc.

The TRD's were probably 4x4's. Don't they have just plain SR5 4x4's? You might want to look at those.

Is there such a thing as TRD Off-road, that is not a 4x4?

+1, my 2009 was. It was a less expensive alternative to 4x4 because of locker. I was thinking you can get Texas Edition with TRD package. If you like the wheels you might consider because there is $1500 rebate on TX edition. 2 months ago Toyota of Plano was advertising $5k off MSRP on Tx Editions.

TX edition rebate is actually $1000 by itself. Another $500 for military and recent college grads.

If I could go back and do it again, I would get a TRD Off-Road. Most "stuff" for the money. Love the looks of my Texas edition but like everyone said, it's all cosmetic...nothing but an SR5 with a few add-ons. Love the wheels and step bars but they can be added for much cheaper than Toyota offers them for. I did get an extra $1,000 rebate for it being a Texas Edition though so it did save me a little money.

Buy and SR5 and mod the shit out of it. Buy the upgraded seats if you have to have them. I've had both sets and can live with either. Add lockers and upgraded suspension armor etc and be done with it.

What was MSRP sticker? What year was it?

I'd love to pay 30k. Both dealerships in Austin have the same sticker prices pretty much. Any idea how much off sticker they can go? And is the "dealership invoice" a load of BS like at the other places where they swear they lose money if they sell below that price?

Check out www.truecar.com. It's a pretty good website and you can even start an on-line dealer war if you submit on the site what you want. They'll send e-mails to qualifying dealerships and you can figure out who'll give you the best deal without leaving the house. Helped my daughter buy a Corolla recently doing this and it worked out great!
