Where you just move here you can blame everything on the altitude and our dry climate.

I have a few cans of black here if you want to come by on your lunch. :)

    Slow day already?

I want to see your "Cadillac" of welders sometime. I wonder if would make me a better welder? :D

Wire-feed welders can make anybody look like a much better welder, just a more consistent flow of electrode. From the looks of that one, he is using a wire-feed system.

He is. But he has a nice 100% duty cycle welder with some other things I cannot remember at this point. Still pretty much a noob when it comes to welders which is part of the reason why I still have not pulled the trigger on one. Might start looking at used though to see what I can find.

Me too, but I know a bit coming from a family of welders. My dad says he has a friend with a military issue welder that will run 200amps (a lot) running off of a 12v car battery, which is rare to have one that works well, but I guess this thing is BA, but the friend wants $500 and it is well-used. But it might be perfect to have in the toolbox in the back of the truck...

What size do you want? And do you want an AT tire or MT?

I've used a Ready Welder (no current control) off of 2 12v batteries wired in series. Never done 12v. It must have something that steps up voltage. DC battery welding takes a little to get used to, you have to control heat by wire speed and your speed. It works great for trail repairs, though I think I'm better with a Mobi Arc and some rod as it seems to have better flux then your standard flux core wire.

Do you know the manufacturer of that setup? I keep thinking about a welder for the 4runner.
